sunflowers

once two girls fell in love,

the sun and the sunflower,

they both thought they never had,

a chance with each other.

they found they were so wrong,

because the universe had a wager;

they found their way and found the truth,

and so they fell together.

the sunshine she was just so bright,

the literal light of the flower's life;

she turned so many heads and hearts,

like she was a magnet.

the sunflower thought she was nothing flash,

she was pretty but she wouldn't last;

she orbited around the sunshine,

like she was a planet.

but when they fell together,

the sunshine shone much brighter,

and the sunflower bloomed like never before,

and held her petals higher.

that is why sunflowers face the sun;

to gaze upon the only one,

the one who saw the beauty

beneath the petals.
