Merida grabbed the collar of her dog, Hunter, tightly as she sprinted down through the platform, lugging her cart behind her.
"MERIDA!" He mother shouted and she reluctantly stopped so they could catch up.
"Can we please hurry up?" She begged. (I would like to remind you for just a second that when all students first go to Hogwarts, they are 11. I STILL HAVE HOPE! XD)
"Merida, we will get there. Start acting like a lady." She ordered and Merida slumped her shoulders, dragging her feet behind her.
She started to board the train with Hunter at her heels when her mother yelled again.
"You cannot take that dog with you!"
"But mum-"
"NO!"
"Fine." She huffed and stomped on board the train, throwing herself onto a seat. Merida suddenly perked up and grinned, then whistled a high note. Some muffled exclamations of surprise starting getting closer and Hunter leapt onto her lap, licking her face. Merida laughed.
"Get down, you mangy dog. There's a good boy." She cooed and laughed again, scratching behind Hunter's ears.
Suddenly there was a knock at the compartment door and Merida looked up to see a boy about her age standing there awkwardly. He had messy brown hair and green eyes, but he looked kind of clumsy and comical. Not strong, stick thin, and was holding a couple textbooks.
"Is it alright if I, sit in- in here?" He stuttered. She shrugged.
"I don't mind. Name Merida."
"Hiccup." He introduced and Merida grinned.
"Nice name." He looked even more awkward as he set down the stack of book and pulled his knees up to rest against the table and started to read, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The trolley rolled passed a few minutes later and Merida jumped up, grabbing the few coins her dad had slipped her.
"Here! A little bit of everything." She said giddily and came back with her arms full of sweets. Hiccup glanced up and back down again as if he was being forced to read his book.
"You want some?" Merida offered. He shook his head.
"Oh, come on. A chocolate frog never hurt anybody- well, as long as they don't choke on it." He gingerly set down the book and picked up a pack.
"I wonder how we'll get sorted into the different houses." She voiced one of her thoughts.
"I don't know. It's not in any of these books. I hope we don't have to do a spell- we haven't even learned any yet!" He said worriedly and Merida laughed.
"Wow, your really worried. I wouldn't get upset about it too much. I just want to see all the magic." Hiccup nodded.
"Yeah. Neither of my parents were wizards- this is really new, and this is awesome!" He looked at the card. Nicholas Flamel was looked up and shifting around in his frame, then he walked off to who knows where.
"Whoa, pictures move!" Hiccup grinned.
"Yeah. Both one of my parents- my mom- was a wizard, but it doesn't matter much. No matter who your parents are, your magic is always as strong as anyone else's, unless you get better than them."
"I wonder if they have dragons in the Forbidden Forest."
"Dragons are against the law to have. But, if you could ride one, that would be completely brilliant!"
"Yeah." He sighed.
Suddenly Merida realized that Hiccup wasn't being shy anymore.
"Well then. Maybe you aren't so shy." She decided out loud and Hiccup almost picked up his book again.
"I-" Merida never got the chance to find out the rest of what he was about to say as a boy burst in, panting, and grinning from ear to ear.
"Can I hide in here? Thanks." He dove under the table and pulled his cloak over his head. Hiccup closed the door in a daze.
The boy had short brown hair and bright brown eyes. He was shorter than Merida and Hiccup, but probably had a bigger ego.

"Where is he!" Another girl stormed in. Merida put a hand over her mouth to hide the smile. He was under the table, and this girl had freakishly long golden hair. It was pretty, but inconvenient, most likely. She had wide green eyes and wasn't in robes- just a long purple and pink shirt with royal purple leggings, but her shoes were blue sneakers.
"Under the table." Merida grinned.
"Thank you! Now. GET OUT HERE FROST!!!" She dragged the boy out from under the table and punched him in the face.
"Oh! sorry... I mean, Now give me back my stuff!" He grinned even though his lip was split and took out a trunk. The girl snatched it away from him.
"Thank you!" She tried to open the door, but it was locked. The boys eyes widened.
"That wasn't supposed to lock until I had left!" He said frantically. Merida turned to glare at him.
"Your kidding." She said in a flat tone. He took a step back.
"YOU LOCKED THE DOOR TO OUR COMPARTMENT!" Merida thundered, than, seeing Hiccup just kind of watching with a morbid shock, she slowed down.
"Whats your name?"
"Jack Frost."
"I'm Merida DunBroch, if we're going by last names."
"I'm Rapunzel Corona." Hiccup still hadn't said anything- then he sighed.
"Don't laugh okay? Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third." Jack burst out in laughter and Merida slapped his arm.
"Shut up! You're named after a Fairytale character."
"Then again, so is Rapunzel."
"Guys, this isn't a good item to-" hiccup started but Merida and Jack were already in a loud and angry conversation.
" they are so totally in love." Rapunzel sighed happily.
"They just met 5 minutes ago." Hiccup said in confusion.
"So?" She raised her eyebrows and he shrugged.
"So I don't think they're in love. I think they hate each other." Rapunzel scoffed.
"As if."
"I'm gonna try and figure out a spell to open the door." Hiccup started to look through the standard book of spells (grade 1) by Miranda Goshawk.
Eventually he found one and tested it.
"Alohamora!"
To his surprise, the lock clicked and the door swung open, interrupting Jack and Merida's argument. He grinned at Hiccup and bolted, Merida, smoldering in rage, hot on his heels. Rapunzel smiled and thanked him, then skipped out the door.
He carefully shut the door again and sat down.
'Alone again.' He thought and picked up the book about magical beasts to read again, wishing that someone would at least stick around.
