Ups and downs

Noah is sitting against the inner wall of the cornucopia. Across from him are Courtney and Shayne, both with their hood on. Courtney is resting her head on Shayne's shoulder. None of them have closed an eye after the events of yesterday evening.
The campfire has burned out. There's a small line of smoke rising from the black pile of burnt wood. The smoke dances into the sky as the wind strikes it from all directions.
Noah puts his hood off. He listens to the sound of the leaves and trees rustling as the wind shakes them.
Courtney puts her hand on her chest. She can feel the necklace with the key underneath her vest. She hasn't bothered to give it back to Shayne. It gives her a feeling of safety. As if, as long as she has the key, they will always find their way back to each other. She looks at Shayne.
Shayne looks bothered.
''Hey,'' Courtney whispers. ''You okay?''
''I'm alright,'' Shayne speaks softly. ''I'm just wondering about who killed Olivia.''
''It doesn't matter,'' Courtney tells. ''Finding out who did it isn't going to bring her back.''
''It was Lasercorn,'' Noah interrupts them.
Courtney and Shayne look at Noah.
''We all know it,'' Noah adds.
''How are you so sure?'' Courtney asks. ''Wes and Keith are also still out there.''
''It was definitely not Keith and I don't think Wes is that much of a killer,'' Noah tells honestly.
''Well, Wes did knock me against these walls in the beginning of the games,'' Shayne tells.
''And I kind of saw him kill Sohinki,'' Courtney adds awkwardly.
Noah looks away.
The sun is peeking through the trees.
''It doesn't matter,'' Shayne tells. ''Let's not look at the past.
''You're right,'' Noah says. ''We know Keith is still out there, somewhere near that cliff.  We should look for him.''
Courtney and Shayne agree. They grab their weapons and wander towards the direction of the cliff.

Keith is sleeping in the woods, hidden behind a big log. The log provides some shelter from the wind. The first light of the day jerk him awake. He immediately sits up straight and looks around. There's nobody to be seen. The sun is just barely peeking over the hill behind him. Keith lays his head back down on the ground while rubbing his eyes.
''Day three,'' he speaks softly while he feels a big yawn coming up. I've had a good night of sleep. How am I still tired, he wonders. Must be because of all the running. Maybe I should just get to those caves below the cliff, wait out the rest of the games, he thinks. Keith turns to his side. Who are still left, he thinks to himself. He grabs a little twig from the ground. On the first night I saw Sohinki's, Anthony's and Joven's picture appear in the sky. Using the twig Keith writes down their names in the dirt. Yesterday evening it was Mari, Ian and Olivia. He writes their names down as well. He sits back and stares at his list. six names. six deaths. but also six survivors. And I'm one of them, he thinks proud.
Keith stands up. With his foot he wipes away his writings. In the distance he can see the steep hill leading up to the big stone cliff. He starts jogging towards the grey stony area. Just now he can feel the stabbing pain of the cold wind hitting him in the face. The leaves on the trees are dancing in the wind, some of them letting go of their tree and some of them sternly holding on. The rustling sound overthrows all the other small sounds of the forest. As Keith approaches the cliff he takes a moment to breath. The cliff provides some nice shelter from the wind. The water makes a relaxing sound when it tumbles of the cliff and into the lake. Keith takes a quick glance at the top of the big stone wall. Going up there would give me a height advantage but it would also make me more noticeable, he figures. He decides to remain at the bottom of the cliff, where he is out of sight. I need to find some shelter, he thinks. He starts running besides the side of the cliff. There are a few cave mouths in his path. After running past some small ones he runs towards one of the biggest caves. Just as Keith approaches the cave mouth and he can get a glimpse of the darkness inside, he suddenly trips. He falls to the unforgiving rocky floor, catching himself with his hands. He looks at his hands. They're all red and sting as if they've been burned. Keith hears a step being taken. He immediately turns around and sees Lasercorn standing inside the cave, his spear just slightly sticking out of the side of the cave. Keith starts crawling backwards, terrified.
Lasercorn quickly steps forward, lines up his spear and stabs Keith in his stomach.
Keith gasps as the long metal end of the spear pierces his skin. He can feel his leg shake as the stinging pain gets worse. He breathes back out as Lasercorn jerks the spear back out of his body. He lays his hand down on the wound, his breathing slowly accelerating. He hears a faint voice in the distance call his name.
Lasercorn takes a quick glance at the cliff.
He must have heard the voice too, Keith thinks.
Lasercorn spins the spear in his hands. He swings the end of the spear with a dull sound against Keith's face.
Keith falls with his face against the cold stone floor, his vision turning into nothingness.
