The Unknown Story of a Girl: Bethany’s Story

Part One

December 28th, 2011

The snow is falling is NYC and Billy has something planned for me according to his text message. He is my boyfriend and has been for about 3 months.  We have had our bumps, but he is nice to me. “Ok so I have 15 minutes to get ready”, I thought to myself.  So I threw on an old sweater and some dark skinny jeans, I did my make-up and fixed my hair quickly. I threw on my boots and ran out the door. He said to meet me at the park so I figured I would walk, or jog.

I got to the park a little after six. He was standing by the park bench, he did not like sitting on them unless they we high class. “Hi Darling”, he says with a high priced smile. “That’s what you decided to wear on our date”, he said with an attitude. “What’s wrong with it?” I retorted. “Nothing. Dear,” he grumbled.  He decided to take me to this extremely fancy rooftop restaurant in Time Square. I knew I stood out from those high class people. To be honest I wouldn’t mind cooking dinner home in my apartment with him instead of this.

We finished dinner and of course, he paid. He acts like the typical rich man.  I wonder if it bothers that I’m not as rich as him. Probably. We took his car home, the newest Ferrari.  He walked me to my door and kissed me goodnight. Nothing long, just a few seconds, nothing special. He walked to his car and sped off into the city. The night was still fairly young, just a little before eight. I pulled open a new text to my best friend, Jeff. Jeffery and I met in college and have been really good friends. “Hey wanna meet me at the bar on third?”, I asked him.  Almost immediately, he replied, “Sure! Meet you now.” I have always loved his enthusiasm. He always seemed up for anything. I walked out of my apartment and headed down the street.

I walked through the door to be welcomed by Jeff and the fragrance of cheap alcohol. I hugged him briefly than we sat down at the bar and he ordered us some drinks. We sat and talked. We talked about our jobs, our day, and simply our lives. I loved how honestly we could open up to each other, well he is my best friends.

A few drinks later, I started to feel a little fuzzy. Jeff was fine since he didn’t drink much. “You want me to walk you home, Beth?” “ Sure,” I responded. He led me to my apartment and opened the door, he had always had my key.  He led me to my room and helped me into bed. “I will see you tomorrow for lunch,” he whispered. “Sounds great,” I said sleepily. I heard him shut the door and I drifted off to sleep.
