Part Three

-15 Minutes Later-
I awoke to sound to Jeff’s voice. “Beth…Bethany….Are you ok dear?” “Huh?,” I thought to myself. “Dear,”? Did he call me dear? “What had happened Jeff?” I asked. “You must have hit your head on the fall. I felt my head. The back was swollen and there was definitely a rising bump. “Here I will help you up,” he said willingly. He bent down and gracefully helped me up. I was a little shaky, but I was able to stand. “Thanks.” “Anytime.” I walked over to the elevator buttons. The elevator lights must have flickered on while I was out. I tried pressing the buttons. “It’s no use, I already tired,” He said sadly. “And the worst part is,” I started. “No one knows were down here.” “I guess we are going to be stuck down here for a while,” he said with smile, trying to cheer me up. His smile always cheered me up.
“Uh, I’m getting hungry,” I said. “Hmmm, let’s see what you have in your purse.” I threw him my purse and he dumped it on the floor. “Nice,” I said sarcastically. “Hmmm can you eat this makeup?” He asked being funny. “Because, you sure do have a lot of it.” “Haha, no.” “Why do girls even wear makeup?” He started. “Especially you. You don’t need it. I’m just saying.” I smiled at him then looked down. It was obvious I was blushing. Wait, why has he been being really nice to me lately; I wonder what my surprise was.
“Aha!” He said. “I found some mints and your water bottle! We are saved.” “Oh my god!” I said. “My phone! We are saved! I totally forgot about it!” I pulled it from my pocked “Damn!” “What?” He asked. “No bars, but I do have 3G,” I said cheerfully. “Let me send a FB message to Billy.” He is always on even though I haven’t checked my FB in at least a month or two. I ignored my hundreds of notifications and went straight to his page. My eyes widened and I couldn’t breathe. Tears started to well up in my eyes. “Beth, what’s wrong?” “Look!” I showed him Billy’s page. “Look at his at his last post,” I instructed.
His last post was a picture followed by the caption, “Out for the day with my babe”. The picture was him and this blonde girl holding hands. They she was wearing a gown and him, a suit. It looks like he took her to an extremely fancy restaurant. She is probably rich, just like him. And I will admit, she was gorgeous. “I’m so sorry Bethany,” Said Jeff. He reached over to give me a comforting hug.
I kept scrolling through his posts. According to his posts, he was now, “single” when we had been dating for 3 months. After of a few weeks it changed to, “In a relationship” with Catherine Woods. “Hold on I need to do something,” I said sniffling. I pulled up a chat to him and started typing.
Look, idk if you ever loved me or not but I know the truth now, and there is no escaping it. Was it because I’m not high class or rich like you? Or because I could never be like you. But the sad thing is you never had the balls to end. You had go behind my back. Well I see where we stand. This is goodbye forever and there is nothing you can do to change it. IT. IS. OVER.
Before I second guessed myself I pressed enter. I started to break down and ended up in in Jeff’s arms. “After all we have been through,” I sniffled. “I can’t believe this.” There was a unsettling silence in the elevator.
“Bethany, can I be honest with you?” Jeff started. “Of course.” “You were too good for him from the start.” “You deserve a million times better than him. Your smart, beautiful, funny, and so much more.” When a guy would tell me I’m pretty, I usually wouldn’t believe it. But from Jeff somehow I did. He looked into my eyes, “You know I have never been good with these things, but, I love you. “Before my brain had time to comprehend everything, I leaned in to kiss him. I wrapped my arms around him, letting my heart take over. It was the best kiss I have ever had.
