Leon Kuwata was the playboy. The guy that flirted with all the girls in class, the one with all the girls following him. You supposed this was normal, given his talent as the Ultimate Baseball Star. Any Ultimate athlete was bound to have dozens of admirers. Aoi Asahina was another prime example of your theory, having dozens upon dozens of boys swooning over her every action. Though you wondered often if she counted, since there were two other..rather large things that probably factored into her popularity. In either case, you had come to terms with the fact that you could never be friends with Leon. Maybe acquaintances, but nothing more. You were a million worlds apart, you being so shy, compared to him being so outgoing. You doubted anyone in the class even knew your name. Being the Ultimate Glassblower, you didn't really need to talk much to others, and from a young age, your parents kept you indoors, practicing the family craft. Because of this, you'd grown used to being alone, and rarely talked to anyone.
"Hey." A voice that you could always recognize spoke. At first, you simply ignored what you were hearing, assuming that he just was having a conversation nearby, but you forced yourself to look up when he addressed you directly. "Y/n?"
"H-Huh? Me?" You looked around, shocked he even knew your name.
"Yeah, that's your name, right?" The redhead seemed slightly worried that he'd gotten it wrong. You nodded slowly.
"Y-Yeah, it is. Um, is there something you needed?" You stuttered, color rushing to your cheeks as you looked up at him. You could see why he had so many admirers. Maybe you'd be one of them, if you were more outgoing, but..
"Well yeah." Leon grinned, you already knew what was coming, the pick up line. "I actually really need your number. I lost mine." Although your cheeks darkened in hue, and you could swear that your heart skipped a beat, you laughed. It felt so odd to laugh. It wasn't bad, or unfamiliar - you'd laughed before of course, but you found yourself struggling to recollect just how long it had been. Leon's face was pink for at least a split second, you could have sworn, but he recovered quickly.
"Ok, sure." You smiled and dug out a slip of paper, writing your number on it and handing it to the thoroughly startled male.
"Wait, really?" He asked, grinning. You didn't even get the chance to respond before he cheered a little. "Yes!" You couldn't remove the smile on your face or the pounding in your chest until long after the bell had rung a few moments later.
That afternoon, you received a text from a number you didn't recognize.
???: Hey, this is Y/n, right?
Y/n: That depends on who's asking??
???: Lol- Y/n, it's Leon. From your class?
Y/n: oh. Yeah. Sorry!
Leon: Don't sweat it lol, sup?
Y/n: Nothing much, just got out of the shower.
Leon: Oh? ;) Can I see?
Y/n: Did you take one too many baseballs the head?
Leon: Haha. Fine, fine!
You laughed a little and set your phone to the side. It was getting late, so you decided to get into your pajamas and let the comfort of sleep wash over your body. The next morning, you woke up to a new text from Leon.
Leon: I think I might skip class today. I mean, it isn't mandatory that we attend, so..
Y/n: I still don't think you should. School is important!
Leon: But it's so boring.. Why don't you ditch with me? We could have a lot of fun ;)
Y/n: Dream on. My mom would actually kill me.
Leon: Do you still live with your parents?
Y/n: No, I moved out to attend Hope's Peak.
Leon: So...she won't know.
Y/n:...
Leon: I'll meet you at the park by the school at 7. Don't be late.
You sighed, wondering how you got wrapped up in this, anyway. You weren't exactly all that attractive or outgoing, so why you? It was then that you realized the time. 6:30. You frantically got up, taking the quickest shower of your life and pulling on your clothes- slightly nicer than average, but still not super formal. You found yourself panicking as you got to the park around 6:55.
"I can't believe I'm doing this." You mumbled, looking around. Still no sign of Leon. "This is probably some dumb joke- he'll go to class and see how long I wait before just going and when I show up late he and everyone else will-"
"Y/n?" Leon had snuck up behind you in the middle of your mumbled monologue, and his voice startled you so much you squeaked and jumped. You almost tripped too, but Leon was quick enough on his feet to where he was able to catch you. He chuckled, his face growing a bit red from the situation, but he quickly shook it off and helped you to stay steady on your feet. "Sorry, did I startle you?"
"Y-Yeah!" You felt your face grow hot. "I was starting to think you'd ditched me instead of school.." You mumbled the second part, looking down at your feet. There was a slight pause, and you expected him to be mad, but instead you heard his laughter.
"No way! I'd never stand up a girl as cute as you, Y/n!" He grinned, sliding an arm around your shoulder. "Besides, I've got so much fun stuff planned for us, you'll have to beg me for a second date!" You felt your face light up at his choice of words.
"D-Date? What do you m-mean? This isn't a-" You fumbled over your words, your hands fidgeting with your hair. "I..um.."
"It doesn't have to be one! If you don't want it to be." He mumbled, looking down.
"N-No, I want it to be." You answered, taking his hand, but not looking him in this face. Leon smiled.
"Let's go then."-fin-
Eyy! I'm back with something other than a Fuyuhiko x Reader lol! I realize those are probably really annoying, but the reason for my writing so many is mostly because he's a character that I can relate to, so it's easier for me to write for him. However I do hope to try new things, so here's a Leon one shot! Enjoy!
