Chapter 16
After a few minutes of discussing how catchy his ringtone was, we sat back on the couch and watched a stupid sitcom that was playing on t.v. I got bored and entertained myself with rubbing Squishy's belly while he kicked his feet. It was adorable. Oliver smiled and watched for a while.
"You know, I bet I know a place that'll make you feel better." he said.
"Where?"
"There's this little diner I know that has the best soup ever. We should go."
"Okay, let me grab my bag." I said and skipped off to my room. I dug through the pile of stuff and finally found my purse, and changed my shorts into some light wash jeans and grabbed a jacket. As I was about to walk out I heard Niall talking in a very threatening tone.
"Bianca is our pet mommy. If you hurt her we will, um, we'll," he tried to think of something scary.
"We'll hit you." Harry said.
"Yeah, with a spoon." Liam said.
"Or a bat." Zayn added. Ah, violence.
"Don't worry, guys" Oliver said. "I like Bianca a lot."
"You better. Do you know what happened to Bianca's last British boyfriend?" Louis asked.
Before Oliver had the chance to answer, Zayn said, "We killed him."
"Uhhh," I could hear a little bit of fear in Oliver's voice.
I decided to put an end to his misery and walked out. "Alright, I'm ready to go." I said. Oliver smiled at me, relieved that he wasn't about to get beat up by Britain's hottest boy band.
"Great, let's get going." he said.
Louis walked over and opened the door while the other boys stared daggers at Oliver. I walked out first and I heard Louis say to Oliver,
"Have her home by eight, Scumbag."
I rolled my eyes and we got on the elevator. When we got off in the lobby, I hid my face from the man at the desk, so he wouldn't see that I had magically unpregnanted myself overnight.
We got to Oliver's car just in time, because it started pouring rain as soon as I had closed my door. He started the car and started driving. The silence was awkward, as usual, and I had a feeling it had something to do with the threats. I decided to break the silence.
"So, is this considered our second date?" I asked.
He laughed. "As long as you don't count all the coffee and dog walks, then yes."
"Okay, cool. And I'm sorry for anything the boys might have said." I told him.
"It's alright. They're really protective around you, it's kind of sweet." he said.
"Yeah, they're good guys." I said. Oliver flipped on the radio and Ed Sheeran's song The A Team started playing. I tried really hard not to sing, but by the chorus I was belting out the words. Oliver sat very quietly in the driver's seat.
"Sorry. If you couldn't tell, I'm not musically gifted." I said.
He cleared his throat. "Oh, um, I, uh, definitely couldn't tell." he said awkwardly. How polite of him.
"You don't have to lie. I'm horrible, I've been told a lot." I said and patted his shoulder.
"Not horrible, just..." he trailed off, searching for the right word.
"That's really sweet of you." I smiled at him.
He pulled into the small parking lot of the diner. We walked inside and a waitress led us to a cute little booth in the back. The diner was brightly lit and gave off a homey feeling. Several people sat around and sipped tea and coffee.
"What can I get you today?" she asked in a crisp British accent.
I looked unsurely at Oliver, because I had no idea what they served here.
"We'll both have the chicken noodle soup please." he ordered.
She walked away, leaving us alone at our booth. It was still pouring outside, and the rain was hitting the windows and streaking down.
I felt the sick feeling in my stomach get worse. I prayed I wouldn't throw up, because if I did, I knew it would be all over Oliver. I had a feeling he would probably not find that as a turn on.
"This will make me feel better, right?" I asked.
He nodded. "Definitely. They have the best soup ever."
We chatted for a little while, but I was mainly focused on not up-chucking.
The waitress finally brought back our food. It looked absolutely awesome, so I immediately dug in.
"It's like someone squeezed the juice out of a rainbow and put it in a bowl!" I said. Oliver was right, this was awesome soup.
He laughed. "I know it's great." he said. I was about to say something when a girly voice shrieked from behind me.
"Oh my gosh! It's Bianca!" a teenage girl ran up to me. I could tell that she was a snob right away. Her mother trailed behind her, looking extremely annoyed.
"Leave them alone," the woman started. The girl gave her mom a harsh look.
"No!" then she turned to me. "I totally ship Nianca. You guys are such a cute couple! Can I have a picture with you?"
"Um, okay." I stood beside her while her mom snapped a picture on her phone.
"Thanks so much! You and Niall should totally make babies." she gushed.
I glanced at Oliver, awkwardly. I wasn't sure about how he felt about the rumors of Niall and I dating, but it probably didn't make him feel too good. Especially with the fact that she just told me I should be doing the nasty with the Nialler.
The girl followed my uncomfortable gaze and shot a death glare at Oliver.
"Who is this?" she asked with distaste and pointed at Oliver. "I thought you were dating Niall." It was very rude of her to refer to my date that way, so I decided to have fun with it.
"Yeah, I'm dating Niall, but I'm cheating on him with Oliver here, and I'm friends with benefits with Harry." I told her. She gasped.
"That is disgusting!" she yelled. She proceeded to call me several more nasty names that I won't specify on. She stormed away from the booth. Wow, directioners don't joke around.
