"Class, you will be divided into pairs of two for the history project," said Mrs. Thallassa. Ugh. I just hate group projects. It means that I normally get paired with a person who doesn't do any work.
"Can I work with Desiderio?" a voice said. The speaker was Lucia Volnero. She was the popular/ hot girl at school. She has slept with almost every boy at school and hates my guts. For reasons unknown, she hates my guts. But for some reason, she just hasn't caught Des around her pinky finger yet. The thought of that made my stomach clench for some reason. I shook off the feeling and focused on what Mrs. Thallassa was saying.
"No Lucia, you nay not. You will be partnered up with Sophia for this project," Mrs. Thallassa said.
First of all, let me give you a quick recap of the past few weeks. After meeting Des, we have become really close friends. I also have become closer to the rest of his friends, Yazeed, Ling, Becca, Ava, and Neela. We have been really close lately and that makes me happy. I had not felt this much love and happiness since my father died. That thought saddened me. Someone shook me, bringing me back to reality.
"You okay?" asked Mahdi, concerned. He was in my homeroom and sat next to me. "You looked deep in thought."
"I'm okay," I replied forcing a smile on my face. "Just spacing out." I payed attention for the rest of the period. I was partnered with Des, while Mahdi was partnered up with Sera. I smirked at him when it was announced, and he glared at me. I smiled back innocently. He really hates me.
