That time of year when the fireflies come out and it is just amazing to watch hundreds of them blinking , bringing light to the night.
You yawn, ready to be home and asleep. Your sibling had a band concert, that had lasted about three hours in total. Now your mom was driving him and you home, which was taking another hour or so. It was now about nine thirty and you were flat out tired.
Another ten minutes passed and your mom pulled into the driveway of your two story house. You jumped out the car and waited by the front door for your much slower moving family. Staring out into your backyard you see flickering lights. Hundreds of them, on and off then on again all in random places. You stared silently admiring the little lights, also known as fireflies.
"Hey look at all the fireflies, there are soooo many!" your brother exclaimed, excited.
You nod in agreement, going back to contemplating the fireflies' light.
" I heard that every time a firefly flashes a wish that was made at the same exact time will come true, " you randomly say.
Your brother stares at you, then looks back at the flashing bugs, wondering if what you said was true.
"What's the catch?" he slowly said.
" Well you have to catch the firefly that has your wish and you can't release it until the clock strikes midnight the night you make the wish, " you answer, completely serious.
He looks like he's thinking, and then he starts to run around, trying to catch a firefly. You smile, how in the world does he have the energy for that?
Your mom walks up, "Come on it's time for bed."
You glance at the fireflies one last time and head inside.
The End.(A/N) it is firefly season again where I live, and it is truly amazing to watch the fireflies. I hope y'all get the chance to see the fireflies. Have a nice day😺
