When you need a pencil and the one you get isn't broken or dull.
I have gone to art class several times and gotten a pencil out of my backpack that was dull. At that point I would either have to put up with the dullness or attempt to find a pencil sharpener, neither of which are very good options. So whenever the pencil is actually sharpened I am quite happy because then I have nothing to worry about.
This applies to other classes as well, such as math or english. If you think about it you probably are annoyed when your pencil is not sharpened. I challenge you to pay attention to when the pencil is sharpened and maybe your day will be just a little bit better.
