Her older brother!? I didn't know she had a brother!
"I never knew you had a brother, Dasom. Why did you never tell me?"
She looks towards the window in her room and chuckles softly.
"I was told to not say anything about him, actually I should have never told you guys right now. But the truth has to come out eventually. Park Haejin, is my older brother. He told me not to say anything because he didn't want anyone knowing that I was his sister, he didn't mean in like he doesn't love me and he is embarrassed, but in the fact that he was being looked for by North Korean government and he didn't want them to take me away. So he hid every single file and document that proved that I am his sibling."
Why was he being looked for?
"Haejin, is an excellent doctor and the president of North Korea saw his potential. He asked him if he could help him with some of his experiments and with his own medical care. So, Haejin agreed but he did it to gain money for us, since my parents were gone. It was just me and him. He sent money ever week. So I was fine financially. When I started dating you, he sent me one last letter. I carry it with me at all times." She says slowly and grabs her bag, takes out the letter.
"May I read it?" I ask.
"Sure, and if you want out loud so Gina and Nathaniel may hear as well."
She hands me the letter and I clear my throat as I open it up.
"Dear Dasom,
I already read your last letter, about how you found a wonderful boyfriend, Kim Taehyung is his name, right? I've heard he is a very wealthy man, I really hope he can take care of you and love you. When I get back, I sure will have a talk with him. Don't mention to him or anyone, not even Mother or Father if they return that I'm in the North. The government has a certain hold on me and won't let me go. I wish to go back, but I know if I do they will come looking for my family members and you are the only one I have left. I'll be staying and try to find a way to escape, so no harm comes to you. I'm sorry, I won't be there for your graduation nor for when you get married. But I will make sure to send money. Do not change the name of the bank account I made for you, keep the false name, the bank knows the situation and will not be bothered about it, in fact they wish to help us. So when you go get money your name will always be Jung Kare. I miss you dearly and I hope you are doing well. I know sometimes you may feel alone but soon we will reunite. I look forward for that day.

I finish reading the letter and a few tears escape Dasom's eyes. She wipes them and smiles.
"He was right. He didn't make it to my graduation nor my wedding. That idiot." She smiles with tears.
I hug her close, she hugs me back tightly and sighs. I can sense her pained heart. Nathaniel comes over to us.
"I'm proud of the way you coped all your pain and loneliness. I wish I would have known before all of this." He sighs out sadly.
She smiles at him and pats his shoulder.
"Sometimes there is pain that people should cope by themselves."
Pain. Pain. Pain is all I hear now and what I want to get rid of in our, mostly in her life is pain.. she doesn't deserve to suffer anymore. While she's with me, I promise to keep her happy and try to make all the pain go away..
