She let out a slight moan as he gently retracted his fangs, letting her go slowly as Lucian grabbed her head, erasing the few minutes from her mind. She would not remember him at the bar, offering her a drink or remember him taking her into the dark corners upstairs and gently feeding on her blood, with Lucian there to make sure her mind was erased and that they were not cleaning up a body, he did not want to take the life of someone so young, naïve.

"Thanks," Jack whispered as Lucian guided her away from him.

There was still a part of him that was human but the rest was a monster, a hungry monster that thirsted for the blood of humans, fresh blood especially. He could manage on blood that was a few days old, blood that wasn't labelled as 'fresh', delivered to the doors of the club, but it wasn't what he craved, and it barely helped him survive.

Evelyn slowly walked down the stairs, her beautiful brown eyes piercing what was left of his soul, "we need to talk," she stated as she gestured to her office. He nodded at her, following like an obedient dog. She let him into her office, shutting the door quickly. "Is Lucian close?" she asked.

"No, why?" Jack questioned.

She pulled him into a gentle kiss, her beautiful red dress clinging to her body as her hands ran down his back, his following hers, settling on her hips. His fangs extended as he kissed down her neck, sinking his fangs into her skin, softly, sipping her blood carefully as he waited for her to join him. Without a warning, her fangs sunk into his skin quickly with a single, well-practiced strike. Slowly, carefully she drank, holding onto him as if he were mortal prey, an unwilling victim.

Carefully, she let him go with a soft sigh. He retracted his fangs, looking at her with wonder. "What is it?" he asked.

"Your brother was looking for you, he was here looking for you. I sent him here, I had to but he left before you arrived, I made sure of that but I can't lie and say I'm not worried, after all he could draw attention to us, unnecessary, unwanted attention to us."

Jack looked at her puzzled, his eyes filled with an unnatural rage, red and harsh as he looked outside, hunting his brother. Why did he want him? Wasn't almost killing him, enough for him? Did he have to come back and finish the job, him and that wife of his, the monster herself disguised as a woman of pure, perfect beauty but with a cruel, evil and hateful streak behind those eyes and doll-like red hair.

"Calm down," she whispered as she put her hand on his shoulder.

"With him around, I can't be calm, nor can you or Lucian... me being here has endangered you all, and that's unforgivable," Jack admitted.

She didn't flinch at the sound of danger, but instead held onto his shoulder, spinning him around. She offered a brief, sweet smile as she looked into his ruby eyes, stroking his cheek, uttering the words, "I know."

"I don't... understand," he admitted.

"There aren't many secrets that get past me, Jack. Jack Partridge, one of The Order of The Silver Cross's greatest hunters, turned vampire. I knew the moment I first tasted your blood."

"And yet you said nothing?" he questioned.

She just shrugged her shoulders, "it didn't seem important to mention, I was hoping you'd tell me eventually, when you were ready to tell me."

The rage within him slowly died, twisting and contorting until finally he calmed down, holding her hand as she kissed him gently. In all his years as a human, he'd never been so close to someone, it took becoming a vampire for him to realise just how precious life was and how easily it could be taken away by regrets and mistakes. He never thought he'd come to regret saving his brother, and yet it had become one of his biggest regrets.
