It had been 9 days since I had talked to anyone. I was alone and sad. I had no motivation. I was depressed and smoking away my sorrows. 9 long days, I don’t want to alone, I want motivation and happiness. I was going out today. I needed to find a job for I won’t lose my only place to call home; a small apartment with just enough space for me and my lonely soul.
The day was a dim shade of grey; most likely a warning sign of a storm, my car never did well in storms. I put on a crimson rain coat, dark jeans, and matching crimson rain boots. My hair was in a bun. It was time for heading out and there were already drops of rain landing on me. It was around 10 A.M. and I have been awake since 6 A.M. yesterday.
I came across a few job openings: A 711, a daycare, and Walmart. I was scheduled for the interviews on Thursday and Friday.
As the rain got heavier, my car broke down on the freeway. It was cold and I got out trying to fix it but ended getting soaked and going back into my car. I called a tow company but they said they’ll show up when the rain stops. I figured the rain would end soon so I decided to wait. Well I was wrong and I ended up waiting for about 2 hours. It was 3 P.M. and so I decided to call my dad who was 3 hours away from where I lived.
He couldn’t make it until tomorrow so I decided to wait, and not call my friends. I was actually enjoying the sound of the rain and the sound of cars passing freely. I quickly became stressed out but chose to do nothing at all but cry a little bit just because I had the nerve to feel pity for my mediocre self.
Luckily, a car pulled up behind me. It was a soft brown and black car with what seemed to have a lady inside.
The lady walked out and at that great moment I knew exactly who she was.
It was the Lana Del Rey a.k.a. Elizabeth Grant.
She stepped out covering her head with her hands and she came to my window. I pulled it down with my eyes wide like cherry pies.
“Hey, babe is there a problem?” she stared at me with a smirk and caring eyes.
I could barely speak but I managed to crack some words out.
“W-well, it’s just my car broke down…” I looked down embarrassed.
“Now, that’s no reason to cry. That’s not the reason isn’t it?” her caring look turned worried.
It stood silent for a moment.
“Here, come with me I’ll take you home” she opened my door and grabbed my hand slightly pulling me up from my seat.
I followed her grabbing my purse and she led me to her passenger seat.
She got in and turned on her heater.
“Where do you live, dear?” she said.
“I-I live… in the apartments in Walker Street 3 miles from here.” I was embarrassed to tell her that my home was a f**cking rut.
“I’ll take you, don’t cry please.”
Her words were kind and soft, and she has always been the only artist and person that made me happy and gave me hope.
“Thank you… Lana,” I shyly said her name.
She began driving.
“So you know who I am?” she smirked at me.
“Yes, of course I do. You’re music is what took of what’s left of my heart.”
“Oh, baby, I’m glad you like my work… but is there something wrong?” her kind hazel eyes made about a half second eye contact with me and she put her eyes back on the road.
I looked down, ready to speak, but when I looked up I saw my apartments.
“Thank you for the ride Lana. Don’t worry about me,” I said getting out the car.
Before I could close the door she grabbed my hand.
“Wait. What’s your name sweety pie?” I was surprised by her words but I reacted quickly.
“It’s May.”
She smiled but didn’t let go of my hand.
“Well May, can I have your phone number, I still want to talk about why you were crying, baby. I hope I can make you feel better,” she let go of my hand and I told her my number.
We said goodbye and I went back to my rut.
*LANA’S P.O.V.*
She’s just so beautiful… but she seems so sad. Her hazel eyes were basically projecting a wrong feeling. I have to get her better. I just have to see her again but this time happy.
