Chapter 8

Kylie and I are just meeting up with Flyzik and Kuirly when I get a text from Jace.

'Meet me in 10?' He asks.

'For sure!' I reply.

I pull Flyzik to the side. "I gotta go meet someone to plan out Kylie's birthday surprise, so can you make sure she stays busy and doesn't follow me?"

"Yeah sure. What do I tell her if she asks where you went?" Flyzik asks.

I shrug. "Whatever, man. Just don't let her follow me!"

I turn and head to find Jace. He's in the exact same spot as yesterday. "Hey Jace!" I call out.

He looks up and smiles at me. "Hey Alex! Come here!"

"Coming!" I call.

When I walk up to him, another guy, a few years older than Jace, walks out. "This is Ryan! Ryan, meet Alex!" Jace says, introducing me to the other guy.

"Nice to meet you," Ryan says, shaking my hand.

"Likewise," I tell him. I turn back to Jace. "So?"

Jace smiles. "Well, Ryan is the boss here, and he says that we will be able to, but he wants to ask you a few questions first."

I turn back to Ryan. "Shoot!"

"First of all, why fireworks?" Ryan asks.

"Kylie has been begging me to go see the fireworks because she really loves them, so I thought it would be really special to get specialized fireworks for her," I tell him.

He nods. "Okay. What's this Kylie girl like? How long have you guys known each other?"

I shrug. "She's amazing! Smart, funny, hot and just all around awesome. She's a writer primarily, but she loves music and art. We've only known each other for about 2 or 3 weeks."

"And you brought her to Disney World?" Jace asks.

"I had this trip planned for me and my ex-girlfriend of 7 years. It was going to be our 7 year anniversary actually. I had a whole bunch of ideas, but she broke up with me just before I met Kylie. She had been cheating on me for 4 years, out of the 7 we were dating," I tell them.

They both frown. "That really sucks man," Jace says.

I shrug. "Yeah, but I through the shittiness, I met Kylie, so it's not all bad."

"I would like to commend you on your creativity. I have been working with fireworks for a long time and I never thought of giving my girlfriend a specialized show," Ryan says.

"I agree. That would be a great way to pick up guys," Jace says.

I look over at him. "Guys?"

"Yeah."

I nod. "Oh okay! Just making sure I heard you right!"

Jace smiles. "I thought you were going to say something mean."

"No way! My best friend... just uhhh... came out to me a while ago," I tell him.

His eyes spark. "I don't suppose he's single, or here, is he?"

"He's single, but he's not here. He's still in Baltimore."

He frowns. "Oh."

I nudge him. "Maybe I can convince him to come next Thursday! I'll introduce you guys!"

"Thursday is my day off too!" Jace says excitedly.

There's a short silence. "So?" I ask.

Jace smiles and looks over at Ryan. Ryan laughs. "How does Wednesday morning, 3 am, sound?"

"So 3 am, on the 17th, really early in the morning?" I ask to clarify.

Ryan nods. "Yeah. It would start off her birthday."

I smile at them. "That sounds amazing! Thank you so much!"

"No problem Alex!" Jace says happily.

Ryan laughs. "What he said," he says, motioning to Jace.

"How much do I owe you for this?" I ask.

"Nothing. This is Disney! Our job is to make everyone else happy. Don't worry about anything!" Ryan says.

I smile. "Alright! Thanks again!"

"Bye Alex! See you later!" Jace calls out as I walk away.

I start heading back to Kylie, Flyzik and Kuirly and think about what Jack told me. 'Everything will work out! It always does, doesn't it?'
