As the students flood into the great hall for lunch, Harry sees Draco amongst the sea of students. Their eyes meet as they both flash each other a friendly smile.

"Who ya smilin' at?" Ron questions.

"Oh, uh no one." Harry stammers and sits down at the table before Ron could question him further.

As per usual, Ron and Hermione were discussing something Harry had zero interest in.

"How about you, are you excited, Harry?" Hermione asks.

Harry had only picked up on part of the conversation. "Excited for what?"

"The Yule Ball, of course!" She giggles.

"Oh uh, yeah. Can't wait." He says with disinterest. "I'm full, actually. I think I'll head out. See you guys later."

As he wanders the hall, he hears faint footsteps following him. He turns around to see a pale figure.

"Malfoy?" What're you doing?" Harry asks.

"Saw you leave. Granger and Weasel talking your ears off?" He only half jokes.

"No... well, sort of." Harry admits. "Why do you care anyway?"

Draco stops for a moment, not quite sure himself why he cares. "W-well we're friends now I guess, so I thought I'd make sure you were okay."

Harry chuckles at the flustered boy. "Thanks. Wanna walk around the courtyard?"

"Yeah, that'd be nice." Draco smiles.

"So, Potter-"

Harry interrupts, "You can call me Harry."

"...so, Harry. I told you about my life, I believe it's your turn."

"Well there's not much to say, really. I live with my aunt and uncle and my cousin. It's more like hell rather."

Draco raises his eyebrow in question.

Harry hesitates. "Let's just say they aren't the friendliest.."

Draco understands what he means. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have asked."

"No, it's okay. You didn't know. Besides, you don't have it much better than me." Harry reassures him.

"I guess that's one thing we have in common."

"Yeah..."

Harry, for the first time, realizes the beauty of Draco's features. His porcelain skin, soft pink lips, and his eyes. Those striking grey eyes were Harry's favorite part of Draco.

"I-I've got to go..." the thoughts he was having about Draco worried him.
