A/NI love dragons so much that I needed to write a story about them. I am so excited for this story! Also, I believe this will be a better indicator for my writing skills.

Prologue
It started with flames.
The first dragon came from the sparks of the Fire of Life. In the beginning, it was small creature, born from flame and made of flame.
The first dragon learned to live in fire, until he could breathe it. As the years passed, the dragon grew in size, his wings strengthening and his teeth sharpening. His scales transformed from ebony black to ember red, due to his constant exposure to fire.
He preyed on the other creatures, such as mountain lions and goats, that stood no chance against his magnificence. The dragon dominated the forest with his cunning hunting skills and great strength.
Then, one day, another dragon sprang out of the Fire of Life. She joined the first as one of the rulers of the wilderness. Her scales were as brilliant as the sun and nearly as iridescent. Their home was the land of the mountains, spanning from the pristine lake on the West to the edge of the sea on the East.
Centuries passed and the dragon population grew, both in numbers and intellect. The first dragons, that were born from the Fire, were called the Original Ten. They bred a new generation of dragons that were almost equal to them in strength and prowess.
Their nearly immortal life span gave them time to learn. They learned how to morph into smaller creatures, allowing them to discover places in which they were usually too large to fit.
The dragons brought balance to nature, burning forests to bring forth new life and stabilizing the life cycle. Along with the balance to nature, there was an organized hierarchy to the draconian society. The Original Ten had the highest rankings, followed by the the other dragons, whose ranks were determined by bloodline, age, and strength.
The first dragon, Eon, was the leader of all of the clans. He was the King of all dragons. Sephaline, the second dragon, was his queen and his mate. Eon's and Sephaline's knowledge, accumulated from the centuries they existed, was vital for the survival of the dragon species.
They protected the Fire of Life by covering it with a mountain. They left an opening so that if there was another dragon that materialized from the Fire, it would find its way to the surface. However, after many centuries, the dragons stopped appearing.
