Chapter Twenty Five
Elena felt peaceful when she woke up. For a moment, she had almost forgotten where she was, had it not been for the feeling of sheets over her naked body and the heat radiating from the person behind her. A familiar arm resting lazily across her waist and stomach, holding her back against a bare chest. Dante's leg was entwined between hers.
Her heartbeat hastened its pace. Every part of them seemed to be touching. Every part of them had been touching last night. Elena felt her face flush with arousal as she recalled the way Dante had worshipped her body and the way she had memorized his. She remembered the way she had fallen apart in his arms, and the way he had trembled in hers.
Elena shifted slightly, turning her head to the side so that she could face Dante, who was sleeping peacefully. His lashes rested across his sturdy cheekbones and his lips were slightly parted. He seemed so calm and at ease. Elena quietly watched him breathe evenly, and she smiled at the man holding her. Her hand reached up towards his face, her fingers softly brushing through his messy, black hair, which had been mussed by her fingers whilst he had made love to her.
A thread of conscience must have infiltrated Dante's mind because Elena felt his embrace pull her closer, if that were even possible given the already minimal space. Although he kept his eyes closed, Dante still managed to be awake enough to use his thumb to rub circles on her skin, making her arch her back against him. Every touch was a blaze across her body, igniting her previously-sleepy passion, especially once one of his hands traveled upward and the other went down.
A strangled gasp escaped her lips. And that was all it took before they started round four and cried each other's names into the peaceful void of the bedroom.
When they finished, Elena collapsed back on the bed, facing up once more, panting and feeling her heart race at the speed of sound. Dante was breathing heavily too, but he went back to wrapping his arms around her and stroking the skin on her hips, tracing the edges of her birthmark. Sweat clung to both of their bodies and infused the air with the sweet scent of passion.
"Ti amo," Dante murmured poignantly against her neck. Elena's heart stumbled at that proclamation. Although she didn't know Italian, she was well versed enough in Spanish to understand his declaration of love. She swallowed, feeling as if the intensity of his promulgation vibrated within her soul. And in that moment, she lost her ability to form any coherent string of words to match that gentle, aching statement of his. Instead, she turned her face to the side and pressed her lips against his.
