I logged onto my Instagram account, My last picture is a picture of my favorite book "Fighting the Current" by Heather Waldorf, I borrowed it from my used-to-be best friend. I looked at the comments, they were all negative, as if liking to read was bad.

I love to read. That doesn't mean I have no life. It doesn't mean that I'm a nerd. It only means that I love experiencing new worlds, new lives, new ways of seeing things or people.

Here's the thing about judging people; You know you shouldn't be doing it, but you feel the need to. It's not like you're any better than the person you're judging nor are you you're perfect, so why do it? Most people would pretend they don't know the answer, but everyone knows. It's their insecurities pushing them to make other people feel even more insecure to feel better than everyone else. But it doesn't do anything at all.

I got a text from Zoe, my used-to-be best friend. I opened it, "Hey, I know we don't talk all that much anymore

but I feel bad about what happened and I really wanna be friends again. Wanna hang out tomorrow night? We can go to the fair then the fireworks... Let me know :)" She used to be my only friend in high school that I can talk to... It's not because she knew what I was going through nor was it because she already went through whatever problem I had, she just understood me.

I answered, "Maybe we can't be friends like before, but I'm willing to try. Be at my house for 5, see you tomorrow." It's Canada day tomorrow and I wasn't gonna just sit around my house watching a Bratz movie on TV with my little sister, Brianna.

Zoe rang the door bell, "Hey," she smiled and walked in. "So, I heard you punched Talen."

"Yeah, I kinda maybe broke his nose." I waited for her disapproving look, but when I looked in her brown eyes, I saw nothing but excitement.

"Nice!" She hates him, too. It's her ex-boyfriend, she broke up with him because he was cheating on her.

We talked for about half an our until we went down to eat hot dogs for supper.

We got to charm the ticket salesman a little too well, so we got our passes for the rides for free.

The second we stepped in the Ferris wheel she started talking, "I missed this, you know? I missed being your friend and I shouldn't have left you for some stupid boy. I should have listened to you about Talen, you knew more about him than I did and-and-"

"Zoe, stop, really if I didn't care about being friends again I would've told you to go away the second you texted me. But um yeah... I missed you, too." We hugged as if it were the last hug we were to ever get.

We finished the ride while catching up with the time we lost for the past year. I spotted a muscular figure with light golden hair and green eyes. Talen. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the two frail besties." I looked at Zoe and then at myself, we really do have frail bodies.

We're alike in many ways, our attitude and way of looking at life. We both think that life is about making the best out of things, finding something to live for and to try to make it better.

The only difference is that I have the guts to tell someone off, she'd feel too bad. My hair is brown with a glimpse of gold, her hair is black. My eyes are hazel and hers are brown. Those are the only differences, otherwise, we'd be identical.

"Let's just go, Zoe." I tugged at her arm, but just as I tried to walk away Talen put his bulky arms around her shoulders.

"Why do you ladies have to leave so fast?" He winked, "The party only begun."

I stared at him, all I have for him is hatred. "If you don't leave right now, I'm going to slap you."

"A little menacing, don't you think?"

"Nope, look all you have to do is take your arm, that has probably been around every girl's shoulder, off my best friend's shoulder or I will slap you." He stared at me hesitantly, "I'm giving you a minute."

Thirty seconds seconds passed and I couldn't wait, so I just slapped him. "What the hell!?" He complained, I smiled.

"Thanks, was a pleasure to see you again... Mostly because I got to slap you, that'll always make my day." I grabbed Zoe's arm and ran across the street for the fireworks.

We have this tradition, we have to watch the fireworks in the same tree. We named the tree Mr.Bobby, after our old gym teacher. He was short and fat, just like this tree.

We climbed up Mr.Bobby and waited for the fireworks to start. I saw a familiar figure sit beneath us, Talen again. "What do you want?" Zoe practically yelled.

He looked up, "You." He winked. I threw up in my mouth.

She gave him the dirtiest look, "I don't talk to trash #byebitch." She snapped, she doesn't want anything to do with him so he ran off, trying find another heart to break.

I spotted Brad, I waved at him and he left his friends to come sit with Zoe and I. He's so sweet, he doesn't deserve me, though. He deserves so much more, someone good and better than I am. Even if I know that's true, I'm starting to fall for him.

As the fireworks started, he kissed me. We stopped just to smile, and then I kissed him again. "Happy Canada day, Terra." He smirked.

"You, too." I smiled.
