Chapter Nine
When I woke up, I was on a different bed. I couldn't move. I looked and my wrists were tied to the bed posts and both Delanceys were feeling me up. I screamed and kicked Morris where the sun don't shine and Oscar slapped my cheek.
"Better stop fighting, sugarface." he hissed. I fought and fought until something hard was brought to my head and I was out cold.
-
I shot up and winced and grabbed my stomach. My face was hot and I started crying. Spot pulled me into his arms and said, "Just a dream, babe. You're fine. I'm here. What happened?" I explained the details of my dream.
"It wasn't my imagination, Spot. Did you hear me scream after he took me out of the room?" I asked.
"Yes..." He replied.
"Well... that was from what they did. The dream actually happened. When he took me to the other room, Charlie passed out. The Delanceys came in and saw me. They took me to the closet that room had. It had a bed. They tied me to it and..." I trailed off because I knew Spot understood. I looked down and my wound was slightly bleeding again, but not too much. It was fine. I laid back down after kissing Spot and tried to sleep again.
-
I woke up the next day and Spot was gone. Blink and Race were there, though.
"Hey, guys!" I sat up carefully.
"Hey! Look who's up!" Blink exclaimed.
"Where's Spot?" I asked.
"Here we go, she's obsessed with her lover, Blink." I rolled my eyes. "Don't worry, Arch. He needed sleep. He's on top bunk up there." Race pointed up.
"OK. You guys should be out sellin'."
"Kloppmann told me and Race to stay with you until Spot wakes up. He's been out for a few hours." Blink explained.
"Oh. well, how's life?" I asked.
"Just peachy." Blink said with a smirk.
"Don't lie." I heard the lie in his tone of voice. I knew these guys too well. I sat up carefully, gripping my stomach, just in case. Race disappeared and then reappeared with a glass of water. I took it and drank. He then gave me an apple and I ate it fairly quickly. I really hadn't had anything in days except the licorice whip Les had given me when I gave him the money to buy it.
"Ok, I'm tired, bored, and hungry," Blink replied.
"Sleep, entertain yourself, and eat, then." I smiled.
"But then I would be asleep and missing the pleasure of yours and Race's company. Besides, you're on my bunk.:
"This room is kinda full of bunks, Blink. It's sorta how we're all able to sleep here." I smirked.
"A person just can't win with you, can they?" Race asked,
"Shut up, Race!" Blink and I exclaimed in unison. At this point, we were nose to nose. We loved arguing, but only if we were joking around. Then again, we never really had a real argument.
After a bit, Boots came in with a paper. He gave it to me and left he room. I looked at he headline and it was about me and Spot. Young Man and Lady Rescued from Clutches of Evil. I showed Race and Blink, "I guess that's one way to put it." I said.
"I guess so." Race agreed.
"What is?" We heard Spot asked groggily from the top bunk.
"Mornin', Sleepin' Beauty!" I called from below. "We made the headline!"
"Huh?" He asked. He climbed down from the top bunk and sat down on the bed. He kissed my forehead and Race and Blink stood up in unison.
"We'll get out o' here and get to sellin', since you were jumping' on us about it earlier."Race said.
"OK, see ya, guys!" I exclaimed.
Once they were gone, Spot asked, "Any more nightmares?"
"No, actually. I think it was just the one." I replied.
"You sure?"
"Yes, Spot. I'm sure. They happen in my head." I smirked.
"OK, OK, jeez. I get it. No more bad dreams." He laughed.
Just then, Checkers walked in. He hugged me and we talked for a while. After a few more hours, sellingwas done for the day and the guys sorta all gathered around Blink's bunk and we talked for a while, even Davey and Les stayed for a bit.
Les was starting to get pretty tired, so he laid down next to me on the bunk and eventually fell asleep. I put my hand on his back and rubbed it, to soothe him. He was just so adorable. He reminded me so much of Markas. I used to rub his back when he was scared of Charlie and couldn't sleep. It helped him sleep, so I always did it. I kinda teared up when I thought about Markas. So I kinda pushed him out of my mind for a bit.
It was about 8ish when Dave and Les left, and then about an hour later, we all got to bed early. Blink slept in my old bunk. I finally felt safe.
