10. Confessions

I'm totally disappointed in you Xia Yu Hao," She stated. "Is there Anything you want to confess before I speak my mind?"

"Mom....you're home early today."

"Don't you 'Mom' me.....I'm asking you one more time. Is there anything that you would like to confess?"

Xia Yu Hao grew tensed as he felt Zi Xuan's hands tighten around him. The guy beside him had gone as still as a statue. The living room resonated with a kind of silence that comes before a storm. Judging from the way his mother was throwing daggers at them, it was apparent that the storm was going to be a brutal one.

Today was proving to be the unluckiest day of his life. Just yesterday he was thinking how smoothly things were going in his life. He should've have known better. Why did it have to be today of all days, he barely had the strength to stand. Somebody had tried to almost kill him for goodness sake, couldn't he have some time in between before encountering other misfortune.

Oh boy, she definitely looked pissed. This was the first time he had seen her like this, a clear indication that the matter at hand was grave. He shared a very close relationship with his mother, you could describe their relationship as a bond between two friends rather than that of a mother and son. From the beginning they had shared every detail of their life with each other, moments of heartache and happiness. He had never hid anything from her and neither had she. Except for the fact that he liked Zi Xuan.

D-d-d-damn!

Did she by any chance discover about Zi Xuan and him. No wonder she looked like she wanted to scream out her lungs. He racked his brain for any other explanation that could cause her to react in such a manner and he was pretty sure that the reason were 'them'. Plus the way she kept glancing at Zi Xuan proved his suspicion right. His mother had somehow discovered about them and now she was giving him a chance to reveal his little secret. But the big question was, How in the fucking hell did she find out?

What bad timing, he thought. He had decided to introduce Zi Xuan to his mother eventually, not spring it on her like this. Anyway...Since she already knew it....there was no point in beating around the bush, he had to come clean. But he hesitated.

"Mom.....Mom calm down alright. I can explain. First, let's sit down and I'll explain everything." His mom simmered down for a second, maybe she finally realized that the boys were still standing near the door. She nodded and gestured them to come and take a seat.

Zi Xuan helped Xia Yu Hao and maneuvered them towards the living room sofa while his mother sat on the accent chair opposite them.

"Well....start explaining I'm all ears to what you have to say.."

Xia Yu Hao swallowed, his heart beat erratically at the thought of having to explain such a big thing to his mother. He was one hundred percent positive that she would freak out. Well, she was going to find out sooner or later.....Only this had come way too soon. He felt sorry that Zi Xuan had to go through this ordeal, having to sit in front of his mother while he confessed. Yu Hao turned to gaze into Zi Xuan's eyes and received an assuring smile in return. A smile that answered his unasked question to go ahead and reveal their secret.

Zi Xuan interlaced their fingers and squeezed them, communicating through his actions that he was there to support him and that they would get through this together no matter what. Yu Hao was overwhelmed with the gesture. He knew that Zi Xuan was feigning bravery for the sake of him. He should know better than that to believe him. In the time that Yu Hao had come to know him as a person he could read Zi Xuan in and out by now. Time had made him acute to his each and every expression and body language. He could tell what Zi Xuan was feeling by just oberserving him...and right now it was apparent that the boy was as scared as him. Gaining strength from Zi Xuan he exhaled through his mouth and directed his attention towards his mother who waited in anticipation.
