Bouquet of Lilies

Chapter 5

I truly wasnt happy with Derek's presence.

He lurked close to me, like he was protecting and claiming me. It was really freaky and scared the pee out of me. As his arm brushed mine, I gave up on trying to hide my distaste and slid noticably closer to Aideen who chatted away aimlessly. He glanced at me with slight sadness before returning his attention to Aideen. 

"So, what are you guys up to this lovely day?"

James shrugged, "Just wondering around."

She smiles, "well so are we. Would you like to join us?" Without thinking I elbowed her hard and grumbled under my breath, "what are you doing?" She ignored me and smiled, "my pal Kalin here would adore it if you came along."

I made a mental agreement with myself to kill her later. 

Derek gave me a million-dollar grin, "I'd love to. What about you James?" They share a glance before James nods, "alright." The three of them share a smile while I was thinking about the different ways I could torture Aideen. I settled with a poison in her drink. 

I rose up and decided to play along for the moment, "if youre ready, I am."

They stood with me and grabbed their bikes from another table, if I had known those were there I would have thrown them in a lake. We all get on and pedal around until we reached a large river. There were picnic tables littering the scene and a small playground was nearby. James and Derek went one direction, saying they would be right back, while we sat at a table. 

I kicked her thigh, "have you lost your marbles!!!" She hisses and says, "no. I was just being polite." I grab her shoulders, "I should strangle you."

"Hey, this could be our only chance to get to know these hotties. Its worth it."

I growl and grit my teeth, " You let random people lead us to an empty park. They could kill us!!" She shrugs, "they havent yet. So enjoy yourself Kalin. Things could go very well, who knows."

I release her shoulders and glare, "if I die today, I will haunt you for the rest of your life."

She laughs and we watch the boys return. Derek was a little red in the face and James kept tossing him nervous glances. Well, they looked aweful cheery. They quickly hide their moods and James says, "would you guys like to get wet?"

I deadpan, "no." Aideen gives me a pleading look, "oh come on!" I stare at her blankly, "not while your wearing my clothes." Derek interupts our arguement, "all damages I will take blame for. Well, he will," he points a thumb at James.

They all look at me for approval and I immediatly felt like a buzz kill. Aideen was giving me her best puppy face, Derek watched me intently, and James had his hands together like he was praying, "please."

"Oh fine!!" 

They cheer, dropping their phones on the wood and sprinting to the water.. There were a few other people wading through the water and they joined right in. I watched and ignored the itch to go jump in. They dunked each other under and laughed. Derek kept looking at me and I wave him off with a smile. I busied myself by putting all the devices in Aideens bag, including mine and zip it up. It dropped to the ground and I watched them swim around.

Aideen was right when she called them hotties. They were both well toned and a bit on the pale side, but it was a good, pure pale. Their skin looked flawless in the sun and their smiles dazzling. Plus their eyes were both a piercing blue that was awefully mysterious. I stared at Derek without even realizing it and he caught me. I quickly looked away, praying he returned to nearly drowning James. But when I glanced up, my heart dropped. He was climbing out of the water to me and a smile played on his lips. He stopped infront of me, dripping wet.
