--------DEREK POV-----------

I bit my tounge to keep from reaching out and ripping his head off right there.

Kalin smiled sweetly at Nick, completely unaware of what he was planning. "I'm Kalin," she says in a polite tone. He grins and I saw the hidden meaning in it. I took this moment to step out and make sure Nick knew that I was here. His cold, black eyes meet my blue ones and his smile wavers, "Hey there Derek. What a suprise seeing you here. I thought you were out with James."

I plastered a weak smile on, "we ran into Kalin and her friend." I walk up to Kalin and see her furrow her brows, "you know each other?" My eyes glare at Nick, "yeah. We know each other pretty well."

He matches my gaze, "it's almost like we're brothers."

I nod stiffly in agreement, "we're..uh...adopted." Her green eyes widen and she whispers, "your adopted?"

"Yeah. All of us, including James."

"So three guys...you must have a very interesting daily life." I shrug and toss her a smile, "four actually."

"No sisters?"

"Nope."

She raises her eyebrows in mild amusement, "okay then." She looks between the two of us and then she jumped, remembering something, "oh! Here's your phone." She holds it out and I take it gently.

"Thanks."

"No problem. Well, we still havent decided where we're going."

I nod, "lets go figure this out." When Nick follows us, I stop and spit bitterly, "maybe you should go home, Nick. Dad may need you to do something. You know how he is."

He scoffs, "he can take care of himself for a couple of hours. I could use a break anyway."

I give him an angry look and tell Kalin to head back.

"Are you okay?" She seemed to see that I wasnt happy, but then again, I wasnt trying to hide it much. For a split second I wanted to be dead honest.

Oh. I'm fine. There's just some phsycotic immortal that wants to turn you into a monster. And knowing this makes me want to tear my hair out because I'm starting to care a lot about you, more than I plan to admit. So, I'm trying to protect you from this animal and you associating with him is driving me mad ever so slowly. Other than that, everything's cool.

Instead, I just nod. She watches me with concern as she strolls away. Her brown curls flopped around as she was forced to look ahead. As soon as she was out of sight, I grab Nicks shirt in my fists and drag him inches from my face.

"What are you doing here,"  I snarl.

He smiles at my fury, "making sure you were watching out for her, like you said. Well, thats what I got out of it anyway. Besides, I wanted to get to know her. She seems nice."

My teeth grind together and my grip tightens on his shirt, "you stay away. If you had any intelligence, you would back off."

He snorts, which made my vision blur and redden, "if you had any intelligence, you wouldnt challange me. Youre going to lose. She will join us."

My fuse had already been lit and now I had reached the end of the line. My scary temper lashed out and I shoved Nick on the ground. He let out a oof as I shake him by his shirt and growl, "not while I'm still here. You can kiss that thought goodbye." I roughly jerk him into the dirt one more time before crawling off and striding away, still fuming.

Everyone lept up as I came out of the thick of trees and was eager to get going.

Aideen and James babble about wanting to go skating, but Kalin shook her head again, "no guys. Skating is not my thing."
