Uh, Carter?"
"Hm?" I hummed, not concentrating on Rowan. I bite my lip and stare out at a table to my left.
Chase decided to invite the entire team for ice cream at SCOOP, seeing as they won their baseball game this afternoon.
I'm not going to lie, some of them looked good. Specifically this new kid. He had dark hair and blue eyes and he was toned. Not just in his arms. Baseball pants did him justice. Whoever invented baseball pants should win a fucking Oscar because damn.
"The chocolate syrup. Carter, stop," I'm knocked out of my trance. Redirecting my focus back to what I was doing, I look down and see my hand and the counter covered in sticky chocolate fudge syrup.
I must have been distractly pouring it without even realizing.
"Oh shit," my eyes widen as I reach for a damp rag and begin wiping the chocolate syrup off the counter. As soon as I head the the sink, Rowan follows suit.
"You're actually a girl," she laughs.
I scowl at her, "obviously. Don't I look like one?"
"Oh of course but I mean, you were totally checking them out. I just didn't see you as the girl to have a crush."
The warm water helps the sticky chocolate wipe off of my hands easier. I turn to face Rowan. She has her hair down and it's poofy with tons of gorgeous tight black curls. "You're right. I'm not that girl."
I go to help a customer. "Yeah but even I can admit they looked good. I mean, that ass...in those pants...damn," Rowan laughed which caused me to let out a short laugh.
I handed the customer their ice cream and went to the cashier. The shop was pretty empty. It was 8pm already.
Morning was so hectic. I was up by 5am. I hardly got sleep because I knew Everett was in one of the rooms beside me and that idea alone kept me awake. It was so awkward.
He even came in my room to wake me up so we could get the questioning done at the hospital but I was already awake and in the living room.
Thank god. Could you imagine if I was sleeping and he caught me? I'm sure I look like Anna from Frozen when I sleep and wake up. Not a pretty picture.
Anyways, to add onto the awkwardness, after the hospital, which the girl turned out to be okay, Everett gave me a ride to school.
Well his bodyguards did, but he was in the back seat and it was so weird. A celeb who is like a year older than me dropped me off to school.
Might as well have packed me a lunch bag and said "have a good day at school sweetie."
That's how the whole experience felt.
Talk about embarrassing.
"Oh my god that's Everett Ad-"
I didn't see him walk in because in a rush I crouched behind the counter, my back leaning against the cabinet.
"H--hi, I'm Rowan," I actually hear her take a deep breath. "Welcome to SCOOP. What can I help you with?"
Wow, so Rowan is a fangirl?
What the heck is Everett doing here? I didn't even tell him I worked here. He's the stalker, if anything.
"I was looking for this girl named Carter?" I bet you he's smirking and everyone in the shop is falling for it.
Rowan wearily glances at me from the side and I shake my head rapidly.
"Uh she's not here at the moment."
