When the autumn comes, I will start being honest with you.
Creak, Jorden twisted the knob of the door of his dormitory and pushed the door open as cautiously as he could. Out of some sheer luck, he managed to evade the teacher-in-charge of the dormitory for the month. Thank goodness the teacher-in-charge was an old History teacher, otherwise, he would not be able to escape from the clutch of the teacher-in-charge that wasn't the said History teacher. Switching on the flashlight of his phone, he tiptoed into the room, hoping that he didn't wake Weiren up. Throwing his bag on the lower bunk of the double-decker bed he shared with Weiren, Jorden unbuttoned the first button of his uniform. Just when he was about to go to the toilet in their room, a sweet smell caught his attention and he walked towards the direction of the smell. Using his flashlight again, he pointed his phone at the direction and found a cake lying on the square table in the middle of the room.
Happy 18th Birthday Jorden! On top of the cake, those words were written with icing with two strawberries decorated beside the words. There were one big candle and eight small candles on the cake, but none of them were lit. Don't tell me... Jorden turned to the direction of their bed, only to find Weiren not on his bed. Oh no... A pang of guilt crashed over him at the realization that his friend probably bought the cake to celebrate his birthday with him, just to find out that he wasn't coming back anytime soon.
"Where did you go?" Suddenly, a voice sounded beside him and Jorden let out a small shriek in shock. He flashed his phone's flashlight at the silhouette, causing the latter to slap his phone on the floor. "That's too bright, idiot!" Within seconds, the lights of their room switched on and Jorden was faced with a superbly annoyed Weiren.
"Holy fuck..." Weiren cursed under his breath. "Seriously, you piece of..."
"Sorry, sorry," Jorden apologized cheekily as he scratched his head.
Sighing, Weiren interrogated him with a serious tone in his voice, "Where did you go? I've been waiting for you for so long! Do you know how fucking worried I am? Why didn't you message me that you're going to come home late?" Oh no, he is really pissed this time...
"I... I was outside with a friend. We were celebrating my birthday..." Just right after he said that, he saw a flash of sadness played in Weiren's eyes. However, that sadness metamorphosed into rage.
"Are you fucking serious? I thought that I'm always the one who celebrates your birthday with you! Ever since we've met, your birthday is always celebrated with me and your parents! I've waited for you here for so long, wanting to celebrate your birthday with you. I even fucking dragged some mutual friends. We waited, we waited and we waited! In the end? You didn't come at all! Then they went back to their rooms and I continued to wait, in hope that you'll come back soon! And you tell me now that you were outside with a friend? What friend is that? Why do I not know him?" Weiren yelled, his face turning red from anger. Gulping, Jorden backed away from Weiren, only to cause the other male to advance towards him. Jorden continued to retreat until he hit the wall behind him. He's scary... I understand why he's pissed, but this isn't the normal him... The normal him will never shout at me like that. I've got to do something. He shut his eyes for a while, then he opened them and placed his hand on top of Weiren's. He stroked the latter's hand, which earned Jorden a stunned Weiren blinking at him in confusion.
"I'm sorry, okay? I should have messaged you earlier. I didn't expect myself to stay until so late, that was a last minute thing. I'm sorry for making you wait for so long..." Jorden let his voice trail away. Weiren seemed to be shaking from the outburst he had earlier, but now the rage in his eyes dissipated. Other than that, a shade of pale red dusted over Weiren's cheek for some reasons that Jorden didn't know. Before Jorden could say something again, Weiren shook his hand off Jorden's and turned his back away from Jorden.
