" Layla, your shift is over. You can leave now." My Boss said, startling me out of my thoughts.
I gazed around the empty diner for a moment, taking in the dark interior of the empty 1980's themed diner.
" Sorry." I replied quietly as I took off my apron, laying it onto the counter as I turned to my boss who gave me a sympathetic smile. Her eyes wrinkling along the edges as she gazed at me. I met her gaze, silently wishing that I could see her eye color....or any color at all for that matter.
I quickly looked away and turned my gaze to the door.
" I'll see you tomorrow." I said in a soft voice before I began making my way to the door.
" You'll find him soon, Layla." My Boss said, causing me to hesitate.
" That's what you said three years ago, Margo.... At this point, I don't think I have a soulmate.... But thank you anyway...." I replied before leaving the small diner, my gaze on my feet as I walked towards home.
