~Cooper's POV~

As we made our way out of the small café, I studied Benton as he walked to my car. My emotions played tug-of-war with my mind and heart. I yearned for him but knew at the same time, he would be devastated if he found out what I am.

Eric kept popping up in my mind, I tried to shake him away, but I just couldn't help the fact that he acted so different, all in all, I know he's never going to change. He would continue to make me his rag doll that he could do with what he pleased. I sighed outwardly, exhausted from all this thinking. I just wish things were easy, especially since everything is about to get extremely fucking hard here soon. No thanks to my good for nothing father. The only thing that actually seems uncomplicated in my life right now is Benton.

I opened the drivers side door of my Chevelle, sliding in, I stuck the key into the ignition and heard the engine flare to life. I flicked my eyes over to Benton, who looked worn out. I poked his hand that lied on his leg to get his attention. His head swiveled my way.

"So..what do you want to do now?" I asked."We could go back to my place or I can take you home."

Benton's eyes narrowed at me for a second."You're place?" He said almost not certain of his choice. He didn't say his place, so my place it was.

I gave him a broad smile and he reddened at the face, slightly looking away. I pulled out of the parking lot.

I focused on the blacktop road, watching the yellow and white lines blur by. All of a sudden, blaring blue and red lights shine through the back windshield of my car. A siren that blared, signaling a cop, he was on my ass! Where the hell did he come from!?

I looked behind me and gulped nervously. Shit! That rat bastard! I turned my head to Benton and he too seemed to notice the flashing lights. His face was plastered with nervousness. I just shook my head at him and mashing my foot on the gas pedal, making my engine rev up loudly and send my car flying down the smooth asphalt road. I had to get away.

"W-what are you doing??!!!" I heard Benton say breathlessly.

I pursed my lips and refused to speak. Now's not the time or place to explain the situation I'm currently in. He'd have to wait. I admit, I understand why he's freaking out. The cop still nipped on our heels, I noticed another set of lights join in on the chase. What the..shit! I took a hard turn onto another street, I weaved in and out of the small traffic that corrupted the roadways.

I inched my hand into my pocket, trying to find my phone, I pulled it out and called Derek. I read the speedometer, the thin orange arm flicked in-between 110mph-120mph.

*Ring*Ring*

"Hey man! What-" I didn't let him finish what he was about to say.

"Meet me at Washington Street. Now! I need to a getaway vehicle, ASA fucking P!" I cut in with.

"I got ya! Be there in a minute!!" He said, I heard the other end of the line deaden. I'm counting on you Derek, don't fuck this up.

My eyes glanced up at my rearview mirror, hoping to not see lights anymore, but to my dismay, I could still notice them in the distance. I sped up, my eyes searched for the closest alleyway, once I spotted one, I turned sharply in-between two brick building, I quickly killed my car lights and rumbling engine. I looked over at Benton and I could hear him panting uncontrollably, his hand clutched onto his shirt, his eyes wide.

I looked him straight in the eyes,"We need to go!" I grab hold of his thin wrist, pulling him from his seat, almost before he could unbuckle himself from the chase car. I yanked him out and started running. Washington Street was just a block away.
