Ada got through her last 2 classes and went on the bus to go home. She sighed and slumped down into the seat thinking to herself.

I really hope no one else bothers asking why I came here, I'm sure my reputation is bad enough. I keep being told that everything that happened wasn't my fault but..somehow it is. I shouldn't have had-

Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice. "Hey, it's you again. We keep meeting, don't we?" he sat next to her. Ada smiled without noticing. "I..yeah." Tyler reached into his bag and pulled out a piece of paper, he began writing his number down. "If you ever need help, give me a text or call, I'll most likely be up to nothing anyway." Ada grabbed the paper and folded it sliding it into her pocket and nodded.
Ada was still on the bus, her ride is long. She wondered why Tyler was still on too, suddenly his head fell on her shoulder. She jumped and looked to her left. Tyler had fallen asleep. She rolled her eyes and laughed.  She took a marker and wrote her number on his hand. She noticed tiny ticks across his arm. She looked at him.. wondering where they came from, she would assume the obvious but she didn't want to. The bus cane to a stop, Tyler jumped up and began heading off the steps and Ada followed. Tyler began to walk into an old broken down house, it looked dirty. Ada went across the street to her home, old looking, but nice. She came through the kitchen and saw a note on the table.

Hey Ada, hope you had a good day at school. I'll talk to you about it later, supper is in the fridge, Mac n' Cheese! Your favorite! Anyway, I have a late shift at work today, I won't be home until around 11:55 tonight. Sorry honey! Lock the doors and windows, don't answer to anybody!!
                       Love,
                                Mom
Ada sighed. She set the note back on he table and went to her room. It smelled like cardboard and old paint. It was an empty light blue room with just her bed and a box of her clothes and things for her dresser.

Hours passed, it was 8:30 and Ada was in her room listening to her music. A sudden knock came to the front door. After about 6 knocks, she heard the seventh and ran to the front door, looking out the peep hole. She saw about 10 teenage kids, ragged and armed. She turned the lights off and ran to her room hiding under her bed. She heard them trying to knock down the door. She immediately texted Tyler.

Ada: Tyler, please come help, there are kids trying to break in

Tyler: What? Where are you, and who is this?

Ada: it's Ada, I'm under my bed

Tyler: ADA? I'm on my way right now, don't come out until I text you otherwise.

Ada: Okay..

Ada clicked her phone off and waited. She heard screaming and bangs against the house. It wasn't until 3 hours later Tyler knocked on the door. "Ada! Please let me in!" Ada crawled out from under her bed and raced to the door opening it. "Oh thank-" Ada hugged him before he could finish his sentence. He stared down at her brown hair as it fell on his chest. She looked up and saw the bruises and cuts all over his face and body. "Oh god. Tyler I'm so sorry, what- i- I'm so sorry." Tyler shook his head and pulled her in for another hug. "You don't need to be sorry, I'm just glad your safe, first day here and you're already trying to be robbed. And they were armed? Where's your mom? Are you sure you're not hurt??" He inspected her tilting up her chin and lifting her sleeve. "My mom is at work, and no, I'm not hurt." she sighed as she pushed his hand off her shoulder.

"Ada..please let me know whenever you're in trouble. I'm always here. Always." She nodded and they hugged in silence.
