My lips peel back from my pointed fangs, fur bristled to it's full height, stance turned deadly. The wolf things around Flare and I emitted a savage growl. One of them raised their taloned paw, slashing at Flare, I intercepted the blow, ribboning my left side cleanly. I snarled, leaping at it's neck, my jaws clamped down, snapping the spine. It seemed that when i'm fighting, I feel no pain, no matter the wound.. The wolf/human fell down, dead. One down, nine to go.
Flare raised her head, the air became scorching, making 3 of the enemies burst out into blistering flames. I stood away her, the scorching air became frigid, sweeping past 4 more enemies, instantly freezing them, shutting down their functions. The air then became regular temp, Flare and I back side-by-side. We shot away, white trailing behind us, tackling the last two, the one I was dealing with grabbed me by the neck, Flare finished her's off with flames engulfing it.
The last one stood, it's taloned paws surrounding my neck, I transformed back in order to escape, which didn't work. It laughed mockingly, then spoke, "The parents of yours had more fight then this kid, guess it didn't rub onto you" It's muzzle was curled into a sick grin. I froze, not needing to process it, fear mixed with cold rage streamed through me. The cold rage won.
Even though I was in human form, I snarled, raising my hands to the enemy's arm, my untamed rage made my nulling(which I had reason to have on) effect fade. Ice crawled from my hands up the wolf thing's arms. When it's arms were fully frozen I opened my jaw, a cold ball forming in front of me, then discharged at it's neck, cleanly impaling it, leaving a gaping hole as it crippled down.
When I was released I stooped back, staring at the enemy I just killed. My sight clouded as memories were forced back into my mind, I pulled my hood further down, shadowing my face. I shivered, looking up, tears now falling freely down my cheeks, "Those things are the one who did it.. who took Mom and Dad's life.. the claw marks. I couldn't help them, I was too blind to know what was going on two rooms down" I whispered, barely audible, my voice sounded so broken.. it gave away my emotions.
Someone's arms enveloped me, surprising me, Flare.. When I finally return the hug her hold grew tighter.
"It's okay" she whispered, her voice was smooth and comforting..
When she pulled away we sat down. There was a small silence. I see Flare pull her hood down, a glint caught my eye. I look over to her.
"What's wrong?" I ask, hearing regret and worry in my voice.
"Nothing.." she whispered, I see tears fall down her cheeks. She wipes them away with the heel of her palm. I place my hand over her's, which was resting beside her on the ground, I look into her eyes.
"What's wrong" I made my voice sound firm, sure. She looked at her necklace, which seemed to be made of ice, she sobbed. She looked back up to my worried gaze.
"My dad.. the most heartless of anyone.. heartless enough to kill the woman he, I thought he loved" she whispered, looking at me with clouding eyes. She continued.
"I woke up one day, and I heard a loud fire, I walked to where the sound was coming from and my mom was laying on the ground bleeding, my dad was there with a gun, she died that day" She managed to say, her voice filled with sorrow and anger. I laced my arms around her, hugging her tightly. She cried into my arm with heart wrenching sobs, which seemed to come from the darkest place in her past..
When she finally pulled away she pulled her sleeves up, showing cuts a bruises along her arms.
"My dad did most of those" she said, looking at her arms.
"Most?" I had asked. I damned my curiosity again as she looked at the ground.
"I did the rest" she choked out. She looked up to see me shaking my head. I look up at her with a serious gaze.
"Don't do that" I whisper to her. She nodded, yet I knew it wasn't truthful, I wouldn't push her farther than I already had. We walk back to camp, bloody and bruised, which ended up with the generals yelling for the nurses to our attention. We laid in a bed, waiting for the scrambling nurses.
