~Two Years Later~

We were at the field.

Our field.

Again.

This field.

That holds so many memories.

We first got together in this field. I remember confessing my love to her in a jumble of words that I’m surprised were even comprehensible.

I remember how scared I was that day too.

And now we’re here, again, on our two-year anniversary of being together.

I’m just so happy that I have her.

Even after two years of fights and struggles and judgements from others, none of my love for her has faded; if anything I’m even more head over heels in love with her now than I was before.

As long as I have her I could care less what anybody else thinks. Even her parents.

I remember when we decided to tell her parents about us around our nine-month anniversary.

~Flashback~

“Are you sure you’re ready to tell them?” I asked her, making sure she really wanted to do this one last time before we went into her house and let her parents know we’re together.

We had already told my parents the day before and it went a lot better than I expected.

They actually said they saw it coming with how we act around each other.

Ha.

“Yes, I’m sure. We told your parents now I want to tell mine,” she answered, giving me a light kiss on the lips after.

“Okay well here goes nothing,” I said as she turned the key to her house and went inside.

“Mom! Dad!” She shouted up the stairs.

Two minutes later her parents came down the stairs asking what happened.

“Oh hello sweetie, we weren’t expecting you to be with our daughter,” her mom said to me in greeting.

“Hi,” I said back shyly, mostly because I was scared about what we were about to say next.

“Mom, dad, I want to tell you guys something very important to me.” She started off…

“Well, what is it?” Her father asked.

“It’s about someone, that I’m currently in a relationship with and have been for almost nine months…”

“Oh my god, my baby’s growing up! Well, who’s the lucky guy?” Her mother asked suddenly very excited.

“Actually,” she grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together, “It’s a girl.”

They looked confused for a moment until they noticed our hands and realization then horror dawned on their faces.

“You’re a lesbian?!?!” Her father was the one who exclaimed this while her mother just stood there in what looked like horrified shock.

“Not necessarily, I’m just in love with Grace, and have been for a while…”

“That’s not love. That’s lust. That’s a sin!” Her father exclaimed making me and Angela both flinch back at what he said.

“Oh, and you don’t lust over mom?! So aren’t you a sinner too?!” She shot back at him immediately.

“Yes but what me and your father have is different. It’s right. Because we’re straight.” Her mother shot back this time.
