Mica

Sleep was a stranger to him. Jay had told him the news so casually, it seemed like he was talking about the next presidential elect. Mica turned his head to the right and looked at the empty side of his large, round bed.

The unfurled black, silk sheets were still cold from the lack of her warm body beside him. He lingered a bit longer on his bed before he snapped out of his reverie and got out of his bed.

A bed that she chose and positioned in this room. She looked like a queen that day, wearing a pair of denim overalls and a pair of black reading glasses. She tortured the help to position the bed in the exact spot she wanted. She was the shortest person in the room but her firey confidence made up for it. He wanted to carry her on his shoulders so that she could dictate the movers even better but she would have scratched his face off if he tried something stupid then.

He walked up to his bathroom and took a long cold shower, if he was going to even have a chance of facing her again today, he needed to get prepared. He went to the closet and padded to his side of it, some of her clothes were still here, left untouched since she left.

He shook his head and focused on his clothes. He picked out what was her favourite Armani suit of his. A pinstriped charcoal grey suit with a white Oxford shirt and a matching grey tie. He wore the cufflinks she gave him, they were engraved with is initials, MC.

He walked down to the kitchen where his cook, Maria had prepared breakfast. He absentmindedly finished his breakfast and got into his car. A sleek, black model of the Audi R 8. A model she loved, a model where they had made a lot memories in.

Mica pondered whether or not he should call Kingsley and tell him about her arrival. He was curious about his reaction but he wanted to know if he still cared. However, this wasn't something you break over a text to someone, it had to be done in person.

'King, come by the office around 11. We need to talk.'

That was all Mica need to say, he would be there. He wouldn't be surprised if King already knew about it. It would be a colorful reunion.

The car pulled up in the driveway of his office, Cadvil Industries. It was one of the tallest buildings in the Financial District of Los Angeles. It had a beautiful sloping form that was specifically designed to deflect any harsh weather conditions. It was a grand skyscraper that housed 62 floors of his corporate civil engineering offices. Mica was the king of it all and she was once the queen...

Mica grabbed his black, leather briefcase and strode up to his floor. He greeted all of his employees with curt nods and focused on his destination. He needed to investigate more regarding Addylin's arrival and her condition.

His P.A. Sam walked out of her cubicle once she noticed his brooding presence in the office, she desperately tried to match his long, rapid strides with a laptop in her hand and high heels on her feet. She rapidly recited his schedule for the day.

"Sir, you have a 10:30 with the steel works manger from the Ramcast Steel Supply company. Following that you have a 30 minutes meeting with the office board regarding the Roberts Architectural firm merger. Then at 1 pm you have a lunch meeting with-"

"With Kinglesy, cancel whoever else I had a meeting with, I have to talk to King over lunch. Call his assistant and arrange that. Tell her if Kingsley says otherwise, he'll have to answer to me."

Snapping at Sam, he strode off to his office with waiting for her to reply. He entered his room, it was plush with sleek steel and glass furniture, decorated with fake succulents here and there. There were three blown up, monochrome photographs by the wall adjacent to where his disk was placed. One of an old harley, one with a rip tide crashing onto a sandy seashore, and one with an endless field of flaccid and airy grasses. His desk was up against a glass wall that looked over the beautiful Los Angeles skyline. It was very minimalistic. He had removed all things personal from his office, he didn't need anyone else prying into his life again.
