Hugs & Teddies

The wheels of the heavy trolley rolled off easily on the white tiles of the airport floor. Addylin's flight landed about 10 minutes ago and due to her quite a heavy load of suitcases, she had a huge trolley to tow around.

Now that all of her belongings were gathered, she needed to find her ride. Through she was told that a personal driver and car would come to receive her, she wished to spend time of her own in Los Angeles. She came to the city only once before and it was only for a couple of nights but she fell in love with its buildings and layout, ever since then she wanted to do a well ventured trip of LA. And now is her chance.

She took a deep breath stepped out of the airport. Then looked around for a car rental booth. It took a bit of investigating but she finally found a well functioning car with enough space for her luggage as well as a decent looking driver- but hey! can't blame a girl for looking out for herself, right?

After she sat in the passenger seat, she filled out her turquoise coloured i-phone and looked up for the address she had written down earlier, then told the directions to the driver.

She then rested her head on the car seat and closed her eyes, and let fatigue take over her for a awhile.

She was jolted awake by the screech of the car tyres. She rubbed her eyes off any sleepiness but it didn't help much, for her cream with light pink deco sundress was already crumpled at the bottom and her hair was also quite messy.

She just patted along her shoulder length honey coloured hair and straightened out her dress. Then she gave the cab driver a tip and helped him put the luggage on the concrete flooring the massive house- sorry mansion she was supped to lodge in.

She looked up at the ginormous black gates of the mansion and felt immensely out of unwelcome and awkward.

How can her parents expect her to call such a place a home? Addylin thought to herself.

She walked up to the intercom and pressed the microphone button, but before she could say anything into the machine, the heavy wraught black gates opened.

There stood a little girl, about the age of six with the bluest looking eyes, and a kind looking butler along her side. The girl was clutching a big white teddy bear that seemed to have some words written on his tummy, in one hand while she held on to the tall butler on the other hand. She was animatedly jumping up and down, causing her adorable soft brown curls to bob along with her excitement. It took Addylin few seconds to recover from the peculiar look pair but she soon came to the realisation that the little lass was excited to see her.

Her parents never mentioned about a pre-schooler living with them. But before she could ponder more about the topic, a small ball of pink and yellow hit her legs and clutched them tight.

Addylin looked down and realised that the cute little girl was trying hug her but couldn't reach her torso. Addylin couldn't help but give her cubby lite face a warm smile. She lifted the small ball of spit fire and adugested her on her hip.

"My apologies Miss. Roberts, but Claire was very excited to meet her aunt. She was running around the whole house to find you the perfect welcome gift. Oh and if you don't mind, I will bring your bags up to the house." the butler addressed Addlyin in an apological tone.

"Oh no, it's perfectly alright with me about Claire. I love children. She just caught me by a surprise. And it's fine with the suitcases I can manage them, thank you..." Addylin trailed off, not knowing the kind man's name.

"Joseph, you can call Joseph, Miss. Roberts. And I insist upon carrying the luggage, it's my job. But why, if I may ask, have you ridden here by a cab? I think Mr. Roberts assigned his driver and car to personally pick you up. Was there any problem with the car or was the driver not early?" He asked her. All the while with Claire still clutching Addylin's neck and watching the excange between the two people.

"I couldn't spot the driver, also I wanted to venture out in the city for myself. It's been a long time since I've come to my hometown."
She addressed, trying to feel the state of the last word.

Sensing her uncomfortableness, Joseph replied with a smile, "It's quite alright Miss.Roberts, as long as you're here safe and sound."

"Addylin, please call me that, Miss.Roberts sounds like my mom's name- well somewhat." She said with a small chuckle.

"Addylin? I like that that name! Can I make a nickname for you?" Little Claire asked her as they entered the huge house thought the garden, which was incredibly well kept and weeded, if she might add.

"Of course you can, Claire. I think my nickname for you will be Cupcake. Do you like it."

"Yes! It's one of my favorite nicknames and even uncle Mikey calls me that. Oh and I'll be calling you Lindy!" Claire replied, felling quite proud of her self.

Addylin chuckled at her excitement and nodded 'yes' for the name.

When they stepped into the foyer, Addylin was left breathless and vocabulary was forgotten in her mind. The credit did not go only for the impeccable and luxurious furnishing but also to the perfect looking couple who seemed to be in their 40's.

Their warm, welcoming smiles threw Addylin off her bounds. Though she had expected a similar receiving, experiencing it in real life was new and well... Amiable.

The sweet and beautiful looking woman who donned a pair of beige slacks and a matching black shirt, wordlessly spread her arms wide open for Addylin with a fond smile.

Addylin felt her eyes brim with tears due to the intense emotions surging through her.

She gently lowered Claire down to the polished marble floor and ran into her mothers arms.
