3 years later, at the age of 10, I began my journey as a Pokémon trainer. I started off in New Bark Town. My mission was to steal a Pokémon from Professor Elm's lab and use it to take down my father and Team Rocket. I was to report back to Green if I found anything out and she was to report back to me if she found anything out. We learned about a trainer named Red who single-handedly took down Team Rocket on his own. Then Giovanni went into hiding. I knew he wasn't the type to just give up like that so I continued on with my mission anyway. I figured that if Red could take down Team Rocket on his own, then so could I.
I put my mission into action and stole a Totodile and a Pokédex from Professor Elm's lab. I would train my Totodile and evolve it into a Croconaw and then into a powerful Feraligatr. I would catch some more Pokémon until I had a full team and evolve them to their final stages. I didn't care about my Pokémon at that time. The only one I cared about was Green and putting a stop to my father and Team Rocket. Everything seemed to be going as planned until I ran into a Pokémon trainer named Gold. He was given a Pokémon at Professor Elm's lab and a Pokédex. He got a Cyndaquil. We had a battle and even though I had the type advantage, he still won. I thought at first he was some weak trainer that was just going to get in my way from becoming the world's strongest trainer and putting a stop to my father and his group, but it turned out that we ended up becoming rivals. It turns out that Gold was also trying to put a stop to Team Rocket. I didn't want to involve anyone in this battle with Team Rocket and the honest reason is because I didn't want anyone else to get hurt by them the way they hurt Green and I. I could handle them on my own. I didn't need help from anyone. To get stronger, I would challenge every gym around the Johto region and win and collect all 8 badges and then challenge the Elite Four and the Champion and win. After I received my second badge, I learned that Team Rocket had returned. I knew they would not give up and that brought out my feelings of anger and hatred towards them. During my journey in the Johto region, I caught a Zubat which I then evolved into a Golbat, I caught a Gastly which I then evolved into a Haunter, I caught an Abra which then I evolved into a Kadabra, I caught a Magnemite which I then evolved into a Magneton, and I caught a Sneasel. I evolved my Totodile into a Croconaw and then into a Feraligatr. I ran into Team Rocket many times throughout my journey in the Johto region and each time I took them all down without mercy. I ran into Gold many times and each time he beat me. I blamed by Pokémon for being weak and useless when really it was my fault for not caring about them and using them and treating them horribly. After I received my sixth badge and reached Mahogany Town, I met a Dragon user named Lance. He turned out to be the Champion. We had a battle and I lost. He could tell that I used my Pokémon, did not care about them, had no respect for them, and treated them horribly.
Lance: Do you want to know why you lost? It is because you do not treat your Pokémon with love, care, and respect. You will never become stronger like that. If you want to become stronger, then treat them like your friends and show them love, care, respect, and attention. As long as you keep using them and treating them horribly and blaming them for your mistakes, you will never become stronger and you won't defeat Team Rocket.
Silver: Enough! You couldn't be more wrong! I don't need your advice to take down Team Rocket. I will become the world's strongest trainer and prove you wrong!
It turns out he was right and I was wrong. Team Rocket made their main move to take over the Goldenrod City Radio Tower to shout out across the Johto and Kanto regions to tell Giovanni that they have resurrected Team Rocket. I was surprised that all this time it wasn't my father and instead it was four of Team Rocket's admins calling all the shots this time. I wasn't about to let them do as they wanted. I ignored what Lance had said and put my focus on taking down Team Rocket. Of course, Gold showed up and got in my way. He challenged me to a battle and beat me. His Cyndaquil was now a Typhlosion. He agreed with what Lance said.
Gold: Silver! You're never going to beat me or Lance if you keep treating your Pokémon that way. Lance is right. I treat my Pokémon with love, care, and respect and you should too.
Silver: I don't need you to lecture me on how to train my Pokémon! Now get out of my way so I can stop Team Rocket!
Gold: I heard from Lance that you are the son of Giovanni. The leader of Team Rocket. You want to know what I have to say? You are no better than Team Rocket or your father! If anything, you are just like them! They treat Pokémon horribly and use them for their own selfish needs and so do you with yours!
Silver: Never compare me to them again! I am nothing like them or my father!
Gold was right. He wasn't trying to be mean to me, he was trying to bring out the good in me, just like Lance was. I shouldn't have been so hard on them. Nor my Pokémon. I was blinded by my own arrogance. Their words hadn't sunk in, but they were on my mind. Team Rocket was defeated and disbanded. It seemed as if my mission was complete. After they were defeated, I went and defeated the remaining gyms in the Johto region and I had all 8 badges. During my journey through the Johto region, I met another Pokémon trainer called Lyra. She had Pokédex and got a Pokémon from Professor Elm's lab. She got a Chikorita which was now a Meganium. The next place for me to go was to the Kanto region.
