The bell rung causing you to jump out your seat, you couldn't hide your excitement. A slight smirk appeared on Nathan's lips at how ridiculous you were about ice cream.

"So am I driving?" he asked as he gathered his things

"No, actually. I have a ride." you smiled

"You have a car now?" he stood from his seat;binder and papers in hand

"Something like that." you smiled, you knew Warren and Nathan weren't the best of friends but in order for you to have them both as friends they had to get along, right? Plus, you had to go get treatment a bit later after you'd get your ice cream so you might as well just ride with Warren.
You both exited the class, you stopped by Nathan's locker so he could put away his things. You watched as he took out his phone and peered at it, a scowl appeared on his face but he seemed to ignore whatever it was and wiped the look from his face.

"Okay. I'm ready." he closed the locker and walked alongside you down the hall and outside. You both walked to the parking lot, meeting Warren at his car. Warren peered up from his phone before having to do a doubletake,

"Hey, so we're gonna go get ice cream. That's cool right?" you smiled, you chuckled a little at his reaction
Nathan stood there, quiet, a bit surprised to see Warren was the ride but he kept his cool.

"Uh..actually can I talk to you for a sec. Alone." he grabbed your shoulder, escorting you a bit away from Nathan

"What? Is there a problem?"

"Is there a problem," his volume fluctuated at a high pitch before remembering that Nathan was just right behind you two, he peered over his shoulder at him before huddling back up with you, "Yes. There is a problem, you expect me to hang out with him ." he whispered

"Yea, and?" you questioned

"Um, hey..if there's a problem I can just...go." Nathan yelled over at you two

"No you're fine," you looked over your shoulder and smiled at him before returning to Warren, "Just give him a chance, please...for me." you whispered with a smile
Warren groaned, he was way too nice to say no.He let go of you and turned around back to Nathan, forcing a smile on his face.

"There's no problem. Let's go." he sighed under his breath after saying this and got into the car, dropping the smile.
You got into the passenger seat and Nathan got into the back and once you were all in Warren started the car up and left the parking lot. There was an ice cream shop in town so it shouldn't be that long of a car ride.
...
The tension in the car was thick, obviously the two of them didn't have the best history. As far as you knew they hated each other and just didn't go well with each other, probably because they were from two different worlds. You sighed and turned on the radio, unable to handle the silence. You looked back at Nathan whose arms were crossed and he definitely didn't seem to be having the time of his life.

"So what kind of ice cream are you getting?" you made small talk . Nathan perked up from the sudden questioning, he looked away from the window and towards you.

"I'm not sure. What's your favorite..?"

"Hm..I think I'll have to go with....--" you name off your favorite ice cream flavor.

"Oh that sounds good, I'll get that too.." he flashes a quick, slight smile at you before looking back out the window

"Really?! That's your favorite?" Warren joins the conversation

"Yeah why?"

"It just doesn't sound good."

You let out a over dramatic gasp
"You're kidding! Seriously?! "

"Yea..I just don't like it..it's gross..."

"I don't even think we can be friends anymore. Stop the car," you pretend as if you're about to pull the handle of the car door

"What? Obviously (insert a flavor you don't like), is superior!" he chuckles,  talking a quick glance at you

"Ew, c'mon dude that's gross." Nathan jumps in, letting out a quiet chuckle

you snicker,
"Yeah, that's not good."

"Whatever. You guys just don't have taste." he playfully shrugs with a smirk on his face, focusing back on the road

You guys pull into  the parking lot of the little ice cream shop, you all get out and go inside to get your ice cream before coming back out to eat at the little outside tables with those cute umbrellas on top. You sit  at the three seated table. It's quiet as you eat your icecream. Warren starts to talk to you, something about his chemistry class..you're a bit distracted by Nathan. He looks...like he's deep in thought, it worries you a bit considering the half frown he has on his face. You wait until Warren's done until you speak up,
"Is something the matter?" he doesn't seem to notice you're speaking to him until you reach over to put your hand on his shoulder, he looks at you

"What?"

"I asked if there was something the matter.."

"Oh, no." he looks down at his ice cream and shovels the last bit into his mouth

"Are you sure?"

he nods,
"I should probably get back to the dorm though, I...have things to do," he rubs the back of his neck with a shrug, "Plus I kind of feel like a third wheel or something.."

"What? You're not though." you look at him, worried that you made him feel that way

"I'm sure I'm not but obviously you two are good friends and...I'm not really a part of that," he stands;pulling out his phone, "I can get a ride."

"But--" you get ready to stand, you want to convince him to stay but Warren grabs your arm before you could completely stand. Nathan steps away a bit to make his phone call.

"Just let him go. We have to get to the hospital soon anyway.."he quietly mumbles. You're a bit upset at how much Warren wants him gone but he's right about having to go to the hospital soon..you sigh and sit back down. You watch as Nathan makes his call and once he hangs up he comes back to the table,

"If it's cool with you we can hang out another time.." he's obviously talking to just you
You nod, giving him your phone

"Put in your number real quick." you tell him and he does as you say. Once he's done his ride pulls up and he exchanges a goodbye with you and Warren. You sigh to yourself..that was really short-lived....
