I woke up in a panicked sweat. She wasn't next to me anymore. She had disappeared from me, like she did every night. Her soft silky lips had gone, as were her playful laugh. You would of thought that I was used to her being missing, but I wasn't, the pain still burnt into my heart.
I jumped at the leap of the toast into the air. I dragged myself out of my chair, and I took it out if the toaster. It was burnt. Whatever. Another piece of toast popped out of the toaster, caught by a tall woman, with long brown hair bouncing off of her shoulders. She giggled. I blinked. She was gone, and her giggle rang in my ear, giving me a chill, even though it was such a happy sound. A tear dropped onto the table, splashing onto the table, which I frowned at.
7:40. I was going to be late for work if I didn't leave now. The bills weren't going to pay themselves I guess. I got the keys and my wallet, and into the car I went. The radio station played the song Solo Dance. Tears emerged again, and I turned the radio off. The journey continued in silence. Green hills and brown fields passed by, the morning sky lit by the ball of fire in the sky, shining like a candle in the dark.
I work in a call centre. Every day I have to answer the same questions about insurance. The same ones that people with negative IQ can answer. "If I buy home insurance, will i have to pay extra for the bundle with car insurance too?" Those people wind me up. At the end of the day, my boss asked me about my state. I was a mess, and I definitely was not in a good mood when I was taking calls. She told me to see a therapist or something, which I declined.
Author Note~ chapter is short because I really wanted this up so people knew I was gonna try to write another book.
