The next day was pure torture.
I had gotten absolutely no sleep the previous night and all I could think about was the unanswered questions bouncing around my brain.
Breakfast was much like dinner except there was a new tension between Aiden and I. I stole glances at him when he wasn't looking and I could feel the weight of his eyes that seemed to see right through me when he thought I wasn't looking.
The others didn't seem to notice. They were joking around and arguing much like they had the night before. I got the sudden feeling Noah, Sam, and Selina were extremely close.
"How long have you guys been here?" I asked randomly.
"About a year." Sam answered.
"Three months." Noah replied.
"A year and a half." Selina added.
Aiden said nothing and I decided to just ignore him. It wasn't that big of a deal anyway.
Petunia walked in, hands on her hips. "Lessons start in seven minutes." She looked at me. "You will start your lessons tomorrow. You're school is supposed to send your information and files today."
I nodded and flashed her a kind smile.
"Good luck." Sam and Noah said as they left. The others left without telling my bye.
"Oh, and you're first session is in an hour. Until then you can do whatever." Petunia commented as she began to pick up everyone's plates.
"Sessions?" I asked as I stood up to help her.
She smiled at me. "You don't have to do that dear."
"I want to."
She chuckled before answering my previous question. "A session is the testing."
I nodded. She started washing the plates as I dried them and put them in the cabinet.
"So what do they do in sessions?" I asked after a few moments of comfortable silence.
She smiled apologetically at me. "I'm sorry honey, I don't know."
By the time we finished it had been half an hour. It didn't really take that long to do the dishes; we talked a lot too. I found myself enjoying the conversation. We talked about my life back at home, if I had a boyfriend, what kind of foods I like and dislike.
With nothing else to do, I went to my room. I hopped on my bed and pulled out a book. I was halfway done with it already and I had gotten it two days prior.
A knock on my door startled me out of my reading trance. I rushed to the door. It was five minutes until my session.
I was surprised to see Carl standing at the door. I hadn't seen him since he helped me bring my bags in. He shot me a warm smile and held his hand out. Clasped in his hand was a smart phone.
"This is your new phone. Everyone's phone numbers are already programmed into it."
I took it from his hand. "Follow me. Days Monday through Friday you will come to the room I'm about to show you after your lessons. This room is where you will have your sessions."
I nodded as I followed him to the first floor. The room he led me into was past the kitchen and in one of the long hallways surrounding it.
There was medical looking machines scattered around the room and a chair that half sat up and half laid down. It reminded me of the chairs in a dentist's office.
"Have a seat please."
I looked at it warily before hesitantly taking a seat. Just as I did, a pretty Chinese woman walked in wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
