A young girl around the age of nine crawled into her bed awaiting her parents to tuck her in. When they never came she closed her tired eyes and fell fast asleep. Strawberry blonde hair tasseled over her face, tears stained her vanilla cheeks, and silent cries filled her room.
Unbeknownst the window was open and a chill came through along with a malevolent shadow. The child rolled over disturbing her sleep just in time for her to peek out from the strands of hair. She lets put a gasp and the shadow drags her out the window before another sound escaped from her lips. The night air filled her lungs and she placed her hands over her eyes repeating the words 'it's just a dream it's just a dream'.
The words continued until she could no longer say a peep and sleep overcame her body again. What seemed like an eternity the rolling waves of the ocean rang in her ears. Soft sand bundled below her tired and stiff embodiment. The girl opened her eyes adjusting to the luminous sun that she was afraid she'd never see again. A cold feeling embraced her bare feet causing her to jolt upward and kick at the source. Landing in a crab walk position to scoot away only to find the ocean had licked her toes. If she hadn't been so scared she would've laughed at this.
"Hello?" The child's voice hoarse from the repetition of words the night before. She stood up and turned to an evergreen forest and weighed her options. Big scary ocean or big scary forest? Better luck in the forest she thought and started for it. She easily slipped through the foliage and her small frame was swallowed up by the the trees. It seemed like a maze she had absolutely no idea where she was going or what was out here but she couldn't just stay out there. That decision soon wavered when the sound of twigs snapped around her.
"Who's there?" A squeak came forth from her lips. Her arms absently hugging her frame.
"Well aren't you a tiny thing" a boy in evergreen clothing spoke from behind her. He was leaning against a tree with his arms folded over his chest.
"W-where am I? Why am I here?" The poor things voice was shaking.
"Why you're in neverland of course" the brunette says with a joyous grin on his face. She looked up at him in confusion knowing she has heard of the island before. But that was in a movie he couldn't be him.
"I'm Aveena Croft" she announced softly trying to regain confidence.
The boy pushed off the tree and strolled over to her, "I'm Peter, Peter Pan" he says confirming the questions that rattled her brain. Something sounded familiar about her name the last name to be exact.
Aveena gasped and covered her mouth, "b-but that was just a movie you can't be real"
Pan raised an eyebrow and chuckled low, "I don't know what a movie is but I'm pretty sure that I am very much real".
This wasn't the peter she remembered this boy was different and she may be a child but she wasn't stupid. Calculating her thoughts she began running passed him as fast as her legs could go. Pan expecting the reaction simply blinked and appeared directly in front of her. The collision of her sliding head first into his chest had her on her hind end in seconds. Aveena frowned and furrowed her eyebrows. "I want to go home" She demands although it came out more as a plead.
"Afraid not pup, you see nobody leaves without my permission and since my shadow took you there must be a reason" Pan explains only confusing the poor girl more than necessary.
"I don't belong here" she murmured standing up and brushing the dirt off her little blue Nighty.
"But of course you do, now" he paused and with a snap of his fingers a cage appeared. Aveena widened her eyes and before she could make a dash he picked her up over his shoulder ignoring her constant kicking and screaming. He places her inside the cage magically locking it.
"Let me go! I belong with my family!" She cried out gripping the bamboo bars as tightly as possible.
"Oh believe me you're closer to family here than you think" he says and before she could ask him what that meant he was gone.
She sunk down to the soil and brought her knees to her chest and buried her face sobbing.
Peter Pans POV.
All the lost boys but one were busy training as expected of them and I wondered over to the blonde perched up against a tree. "Felix" I grinned and the boy ascended from his spot quickly as if I were about to yell at him for not training.
"I was just taking a break" he was a terrible liar but then again he knows better than to lie to me."Relax, I just want to talk" I said placing a hand on his shoulder guiding him and myself back to a seating position.
"Oh" he says.
"We have a new guest on the island.. a girl" I began with an amused grin. The blonde seemed intrigued and looked me in the eyes. He was brave enough to hold contact.
"Who is it?"
"Why don't I just show you" I suggested and stood us up leading him into the forest. 'This was going to be fun'
Felix was an impatient boy but trusted me in every way but this time was different he was worried. I generally didn't pay particular attention to newcomers unless it benefited me in some way and perhaps that put my second in command on edge.
The closer we got to the prisoner the more anxious I got. "Felix" I whispered and he leaned in to hear what I instruct.
"Why don't you be the first to see her" I half suggest receiving a combinations of looks from the boy.
"Yes Pan" he says simply obliging like the loyal lost boy he is.
Felix stepped out into a small clearing to see a cage sprawled put in the center. The girl Pan was talking about crouched with her back turned towards him. She was small and fragile looking with blonde hair and rich vanilla skin. The boy didn't know quite what to say so instead he nudged her with the head of his club.
He'd never seen someone move so quickly but she was gawking up at him from across the other side of the cage in a matter of seconds. "P-please l-let me go I'll do whatever you want" she choked out.
Felix saw her greyish blue eyes and the resemblance between him and the girl. But he wasn't sure. "What is your name?" He asks ignoring the sniveling.
"A-veena Croft" She stuttered not losing eye contact with him.
The boy grimaced and narrowed his eyes now curious what game I was playing. "Pan! Enough guessing games who is she?"
I smiled like a Cheshire Cat and stepped out into the clearing reveling in my lost boys bewilderment and anguish. "Come now Felix, you're a brave one for making such demands to your leader" I taunt.
The both of them unamused Felix more so than the girl she was just miserable. "Is she my—"
"Sister? Yes she is indeed a couple years after you left they had little aveena and I thought to myself wouldn't it be fun if she came to Neverland?" An uncontrollable mirth came rumbling from my throat.
"Let her go" Felix growled threatening me for the second time since he came to the island. Aveena shrank lower into the cage taking the information in.
The laughter silenced and I merely arched a brow at him, "You know better than to challenge me Felix if I taught you anything surely that'd be the first".
"She's younger than the lost boys now let.. her... go" he demanded once more.
This time I got right in his personal space with my eyebrows furrowed and a sneer on my lips. "Since when have you gone soft it isn't like I'm killing her. And here I thought you'd be pleased to have a sibling on the island".
The blonde boy turned to his little sister who slowly lifted her head to glance back at him. "Take her back, I don't want her here she'll never be a lost girl" Felix said strolling back into the forest toward camp.
A smirk formed the corners of my lips, "as you wish Felix, but the game is just beginning" I murmur to myself.
