Jonathan's POV
Tales Of Two Different Lives. That was my absolute favorite book. When I was little Shane, my older brother, used to read it to me every night before I fell asleep.
It was about a prince and a princess from two different kingdoms. They fell in love even though their civilizations hated each other.
It always gave me hope. I smiled gently to myself. I held the book close to my chest. "Father?" I asked gently.
"Yes my son?" My father responded. "May I please go lounge in the garden?" I asked him this everyday since I found out about it.
"Again? You just went out there yesterday and the day before that." I nodded.
He sighed and thought for a moment. "Go right ahead son, but be back by supper. They're cooking your favorite tonight." I kissed my mother's head and ran off to the beautiful, nature-filled area.
Out there was a concrete bench with bushes and flower gardens. My personal favorites were the purple ones.
I sat on the bench and brought my legs close to my chest. I flipped the pages of my book until I got to the spot I left off at.
Nature is such a beautiful thing that people take for granted.
Evan's POV
"Over here Evan!" My Dad yelled. I took the log I had on my shoulder and brought it to where my father wanted it.
I set it down. "You go get cleaned up Dad, I'll finish cutting them for the fire." I offered.
My dad chuckled. "I wish there were more kids in the world like you Evan." He said while patting my back.
"Be home by six with the wood. We need that for your mother and sister." I nodded and he walked away.
I sat on a log bench to catch my breath for a minute. I pulled my flannel sleeves up.
I somehow ended up looking at the leaves that were scattered on the ground. Something reflected into my eyes.
I turned away, but decided to let my curiosity get the better of me. When I looked more closely I saw that it was a key necklace.
I cautiously picked it up. It looked like it was in good shape. 'This could be worth something!' My brain was screaming, but something told me to keep it.
I shoved it in my pocket and grabbed the axe my father left behind for me. I stood a piece of wood up on another piece and chopped it.
I threw the prepared pieces into the wheel barrel I brought with me. I got a weird feeling about the necklace that was in my pocket but decided I had work that wasn't going to do itself.
I continued these steps until I used up all the wood we cut today and haled the wood to my house.
I opened my door and brought pieces of wood to the fireplace. I threw about half in and started a fire.
"Thank you Evan." My Mom said and kissed my head. "Go get washed up for dinner. It'll be ready in 10." I nodded and headed to my much needed shower.
