"So how long are you in Rosewood for?" Toby Cavanaugh asked his ex-girlfriend Spencer Hastings.
It's been about three years since they last saw each other. The break up was messy and they hadn't spoken since.
Spencer was back in Rosewood for Charlotte's trial and even though they weren't together Toby cared about her.
She'd been through so much in high school, more than any normal teenager should have to go through."Um just for the trial but if my mom needs me for her campaign I'll stick around."
"Oh yeah that's cool."
How was he supposed to tell her what he was hiding? It was bound to strain even this type of friendship. Being civil with each other could go out the window.
"Something wrong?" Spencer snapped Toby out his thoughts, there's no time like the present.
"I'm engaged."
Spencer was taken a back, he'd moved on that quickly. He had time to get engaged, she'd spent most of the last three years throwing herself into her work just to avoid getting so upset.
"Well congratulations.!" Spencer breathed, forcing a smile.
"Her names Yvonne Phillips."
"Oh yeah right I know her actually, she's on the oposing side of my moms campaign." Spencer's nerves were getting the better of her and voice kept cracking.
"I'm gonna go." With that she turned on her heel and sped out of Toby's yard as quick as she could.
Toby stood still, not knowing what to do. He hadn't mean to upset but it was understandable.
If she did hang around they would run into each other all the time, the small town wasn't going to keep them apart._____
Yvonne handed Toby a can of beer and sat next to him on the couch.
"Toby, she's bound to be upset you went out for a really long time but she'll realise that your happy and that you've found the one."
Toby sighed, he loved Yvonne he did but she could be so big headed sometimes and it always annoyed him.
Spencer was modest, considerate of others feeling but had the strength to stand up to her strict parents. He admired that and wished it was a quality Yvonne possessed but she didn't."I don't know sometimes I just wish I'd never met Spencer at least then she wouldn't be in pain. I wouldn't have caused all that pain. A wouldn't have stalked her because I'd be one less person Alison would bully."
Yvonne put her drink down and walked out the room and came back with a spirt board.
"Try this, it might make you feel better."
"Seriously? I'm not using a spirt board to make Spencer disappear."
"No I don't believe it works, I just think that it's like a type of therapy. You can play out in your mind what would happen. Then you'll learn what would really happen."
Toby sighed and started playing around with the board.
"I'm going to bed, I'll see you in the morning." Yvonne left Toby to it.
Toby moved the wooden pointer around the board letter by letter.
"I wish I never met Spencer."
Toby sat in wait for two minutes before giving up and flicking the board over.
"This is stupid."
With that Toby went to bed, not realising what he's done.
