Chapter 5: My mirror

"Ma'am."

I immediately go out and see yaya Tina.

"Ma'am, Dr. Heon told me to accompany you downstairs, sorry but you can't stay in this room."

"I...it's okay."

I want to cry and call yaya Tina to help me, but how, how can I call her the way I  call her before, if she cannot even identify who I am.

I looked at her, while my mind is talking to her...( Ya, this is me, I'm Dee, I survived. But why you didn't look for me? I've grown, I am now a doctor, I miss you so much.)

"Ma'am, I'm sorry, I just utter those words because I am not really comfortable when someone is going inside the room.

While going downstairs, my knees started to tremble. Yaya Tina  noticed me, so she asked if I'm okay.

"Don't relate to it."

"Ma'am, "

"I'm okay, don't worry."

"Ma'am, how long have you know Dr. Heon?"

"Two years."

I noticed how shocked yaya Tina was.

"If you don't mind ma'am, did sir ever tell you the reason why he brought you here?"

I was not able to answer right away.

"Ah, sorry ma'am, if I'm very curious, I know I should not ask you about this."

"I think I should go now."

Before I go, I noticed the life size mirror which I usually used when I was young. I always feel happy before everytime I have new clothes and shoes.

Memories just came back as if I am still the 5 year old daughter of my mom and dad while turning around in front of the mirror and they are sitted in the sofa while watching me. Dad even loved to take pictures of me.

I came  closer to the mirror. But I was not the 5 year old rich daughter anymore. I've grown up into a lady. Everything has changed. I even changed the color and style of my hair.

I came to realized that even I could touch and see my old shoes and dresses, I can no longer go back from the past and I can no longer wear and use them. All is no longer my size. I was so lonely that I want to hug yaya Tina. But how can I? Who am I to do it? And besides, if I do, would not she recognize me? I'm afraid, I was too afraid.

Yaya Tina, saw me facing the mirror. But still she can't recognize me. It really hurts but I have to be strong.

"Do you think it's pretty?" talking about the mirror.

"Very pretty."

"For all the mirrors here, why did you chose that? ...and you cannot even see your reflection.."

"Because it's really pretty."

"You're right, it's really pretty because it was a personalized mirror for..., "she suddenly stopped.

"For whom?"

"Sorry ma'am, I think I should not talk so much about any thing."

"But who uses the mirror?"

"Forget about it ma'am, anyway it's been a very long time."

"How long has it been?"

"Is it Dr. Heon?"

"No...I mean...uh, I think I should not be the one to tell you ma'am."

"Would you just call me by my name?"

"But, I don't know your name yet, ma'am."

I was not able to say any word right away. I don't know what to say. She can't hear my name. She's not supposed to hear any part of my name.

I smiled. "Is that so? Then call me the way you want."

"But I wonder why you look so familiar ma'am. I am not sure where did I ever see you before."

"I usually heard that from others. Maybe I really resemble someone you know. But how long have you been here?"

Yaya Tina was not able to answer, good that Dr. Heon called me.

I am supposed to go out but it just rain so hard all of a sudden.

"Ma'am please stay for a while, it's raining so hard."

"I think, I have to stay for a bit."

"Ma'am please come inside and wait until the rain stops."

"Will the rain really stop?"

Yaya Tina was confused as I asked her if rain really stops, then I remembered I usually ask her that statement when I was young.

"Ma'am, could you please say what you asked me a while back?"

Good that I got a call from Dr. Heon.

"Excuse me,"

"Hello, Dr. Heon."

"Are you doing well?"

"Yes, I'm okay, I am still here."

" But why?"

"Is it not raining there?"

"No, actually the weather is just fine."

"I see. But it's really raining hard here."

"Shall I pick you up?"

"No, I think, it will stop later."

"Okay, then, just give me a ring when you're home."

"Okay."

"Ma'am, please drink this coffee before you go."

"But how can I drink if I will drink by my own, shall I make a coffee for you then?"

"No, ma'am, please..."

"No, let's drink together or else I won't accept that."

I saw how yaya Tina was confused with deep thoughts. I insisted that we have to drink together.

I went home alone after drinking coffee with yaya Tina.

I stayed at my condo unit to rest well before going back to work.

Just I arrived at the hospital, I heard that the President together with his wife will visit.

I rushed wearing my uniform and prepared as well.

"Dr. Rain, are you aware that the president is going to visit here?"

"I heard it already."

"And Dr. Heon is not around because, he might be announced now as the successor of this hospital."

I did not have any reaction.

"Dr. Rain, don't tell me you already know about it."

"Everybody knows about it. Either I know or not, it's no big deal."

"Did he tell you about it?"

"He didn't."

"So, how did you know about it?"

"I was not born yesterday."

"Okay, okay, okay... but never tell Dr. Heon that you already know, as far as he want, he wants to be treated equally like a normal doctor in this hospital."

"Thank you, but I know from the very start that wealthy people should not trust anybody else. And they don't trust easily."

"Bravo."

"You're really smart, Dr. Rain."
