Brian's POV
She led me inside her house.
"Nice house." It was painted cream and ivory. The house was sparsely furnished with just a couch in the living room and a small wooden dinette in the corner.
"Thanks, and here's the bathroom." Pretty clean. I quickly finished my business and walked out.
"Can I get something to eat?"
"Sure. I'll cut some apples if you want, or maybe sapodillas."
"I'll help you out. Two apples should be good." I grabbed a knife and an apple. It was huge.
"Anyways, so did you get any leads on my sister's death?"
"About that, our forensic expert was going to check Marie's - I hope you don't mind me calling her Marie - body. Even she had suspicions when the body was glowing, albeit a lot less."
"Oh!"
RING!!
RING!!"Hey Cleo!"
"Listen Brian! You need to come here ASAP."
"Why?"
"I've got some shocking and disturbing results and you need to know about them NOW."
"Oh God! I'll be there in ten."
Just when I was having a good time.
"I'm sorry Kris but work calls so I need to leave"
"'Tis 'kay. No biggie."
"No, I-I'm really sorry."
"It's okay. But the work must be urgent."
"Yeah! Goodbye Kris."
"Bye Brian."
Let's go!

Kris's POV
Thank God! I thought he would never leave.
But he's pretty sweet as well. A jolly guy; he didn't give that impression the first time though.
I arranged my easel next to the window and started sketching. Not even five minutes into drawing, someone decided to pay me a visit. Ever since Marie's death the number of people coming to meet me has increased. And hardly anyone knew Marie. I opened the door.
"Carter!"
"Hello sister dearest!"
"What do you want?" I asked, glaring at the brown haired lady who was currently smiling maliciously at me. I'm ashamed to even call her of my own blood.
"What can I get from an infuriating rat like you?" she sneered, " You were always that interfering busybody, meddling in stuff that did not concern you. So I decided to do a favour and rid the world of you."
"What do yo-" I was cut off mid-sentence by my hand which stretched to grab the butcher's knife on the counter. "No!"I screamed as my hand moved to my neck.
Carter started laughing ominously, like a maniac.
I tried to pull away, but to no avail. Just then, I heard someone knock the door.
"Kris! Open the door! Kris! Kristine!"
"Who's that?" Carter turned to look at the door. I took her moment of distraction to my advantage and dropped the knife to the ground.
"Get out from the window" I whisper-yelled to my sister, as I ran to open the door. Making sure she had escaped, I opened the door.
"Brian! Back so soon?"
"Yeah! But I have a lot to ask you." his face showed that he was so not joking. The most surprising features were his ice cold blue eyes. His lips were set in a thin line.
"Come in."
"Mind to explain yourself?"
"What do you mean?"I crossed my arms.
"It was not a chemical that made Marie's body glow, am I right."
My eyes went wide and I gasped. This is not happening. And just like that everything went black.
