Chapter 4: The Porn Star Goes to School

I walked through the hallways of CWHS expecting people to throw rocks at me and call me out for being such a hoe, but nothing like that happened. It was actually a peaceful walk. I got some mean looks from the school bullies but they were always like that, anyway. There were mostly curious looks and giggles. I even got a wink from that hot guy from my Chemistry class.

So, I guess, I'm a freaking porn star now. Great.

My school wasn't as homophobic as I thought it was. I'm starting to think the world isn't that homophobic at all. Maybe I've been watching too much tv all my life that I couldn't even look at the world as it really is. Suddenly, I now had a little faith in humanity. I smiled to myself, but clenched my fists. That still didn't make me not want to punch Lucas in the face, though. He is so going to pay for this.

I entered first period, which was English, as the bell rang. Some of my classmates looked at me and I looked back throwing them a 'What do you want?' look. They pretended they were doing something else. They were probably surprised I even looked up at them. Most of the time I would walk to my seat with my head bowed down, avoiding all human contact as possible. Now that I was out to the whole freaking world, I had nothing to hide. So, my new mantra now, as hipsters say, is YOLO. I'm already some sort of porn star. What else could possibly go wrong?

As I sat down, I looked around for Lucas, who had mentioned he was in every class I had. He was nowhere in sight, though. I waved at Allison who just arrived and sat down beside me.

"So, have you killed him, yet?" Allison said humourously as she took out a notebook from her bag.

"Not yet. He's not here. I don't know why." I changed the subject. "Noone's bullying me or anything about being gay. Why?" I whispered to her.

Allison looked at me with a gentle smile. "Rob, the world isn't as harsh as you think it is. Plus, everybody loves you, you know."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "What do you mean?"

"You're just to dense to realize it, but a lot of people like you. Your funny without even trying."

        "Wow, thanks."

"See? You think you're sarcastic but really you're just funny." She laughed and she seemed to be enjoying making me feel uncomfortable. "Your always at the top of the class, you're rich and honestly, you're cute."

I blushed. I realized Allison was right. There were a lot of times when people would just randomly talk to me but I always backed away in fear they'd bully me or something.

"So... There are still a lot of homophobes out there, but they tolerate me because I amuse them?"

        "Because you're cool."

        "Well that's not fair."

"The world isn't fair, Rob, and remember what I said. The world isn't as harsh as you think it is. Some people are just naturally kind."

        "Like you," I interrupted.

She blushed and shifted awkwardly. "Yes and there are lots of people like me out there, too. There are also lots of jerks out there, but you can't please everyone, right? Just stop over thinking things and live."

        Live.

I smiled at the thought. Yesterday, my concept of living was going to school, interacting with as few people as possible and going straight back home. The only fun I ever had was when I visited Allison's apartment or whenever we'd go out together. It was my senior year. A whole new world was unfolding before my eyes and I'm going to live it to the fullest.
