The next day both Valene and Nex were off work and Claudia had no concert to play so that afternoon they came back from Wal Mart with several bags, this time going to Nex's house to prepare. They went in and sat the bags on the couch then went to Nex's room, grabbing a few things from her closet and dresser before going back down into the living room.
"I'm going to wear my red and black corset beneath my outfit, I hate wearing nothing under a hoodie." Nex said as she slipped her corset on that she grabbed from her closet.
Valene nodded as they all then took the bags and dumped their contents out onto the couch, an array of knives and sheaths to place them in along with their black outfits, complete with black leather gloves and other miscellaneous items spilled out onto the cushions. The girls looked at each other and gave a slight nod as they grabbed the outfits and began getting dressed. Nex slipped on her black skinny jeans and zip up hoodie along with her worn out red and black converse. Valene had basically the same except she wore regualr black jeans and a pull over black hoodie over her black tank top and black and white converse. Claudia decided to just wear black leggings with a long sleeved black shirt she got two sizes bigger than her size so it would go down past her butt along with her combat boots and black bandanna to cover her bright green hair. Nex and Valene used black eyeshadow to darken their eyes and Nex decided to add black lipstick. Claudia took the lipstick after her and used it to place two army stripes on each cheek with a giggle. Nex rolled her eyes and smiled as she started helping Valene place the knives inside sheaths then they equipted them in easily accessable places. Claudia had decided to buy a small hand BB gun and was loading two clips with the harmless yet painful ammo, placing one in the gun and the other in a small hip satchel along with a few throwing knives. Nex stuck with just her knives but also grabbed out Jeff's butcher knife that he had left the night before, looking at Valene with a smirk. Valene smiled a bit and nodded. Once the girls were ready they put their mess away and looked at each other.
"Alright....Jeff said the woods are said to be haunted ...and that no one ever comes out....so there's a possibility we could get lost, but our houses face to the east towards the city so if we go too far in I think if we keep walking east we should eventually come to the edge." Valene said. The other two nodded.
"The purpose of this trip is to find out who Jeff is working for and why he is so interested in us.....then put a stop to it." she added, looking to Nex and Claudia who gave another nod.
"Valene....are we gonna...kill someone?" Nex asked. Valene looked up at her and gave a sigh, shaking her head.
"That's not my intention....these weapons are for self defense, well for the most part. We know Jeff is dangerous...very dangerous...and whomever he is working for is probably just as dangerous as well. I hope to find out what he or she wants with us and give them ...incentive to back off." she said casually.
"Incentive.....you're gonna threaten them." Claudia chuckled. Valene couldn't help but chcukle as well.
"I suppose that's another way of putting it. However, killing is not the goal here....but if we come across conflict then do not let yourself get hurt. We all took Mrs. P's karate class throughout middle school and part of high school, we can fight and defend ourselves. We will show them that having us as targets for whatever their planning is not wise on their part. So protect yourselves and keep your guards up, alright?"
The girls nodded before heading to the kitchen to grab a few bottles of water and some nutribars to eat real quick before leaving. They had to wait until it got dark anyways since it would look really suspicious if by some chance they were spotted by someone while wearing all black heading into the woods. The less attention they attracted the better. The few hours they had they chatted, talking about childhood memories and fun moments they've had in their lives together. When the sun began to set their pleasent convorsations slowed and they began to talk about the task at hand. They all three admitted...they were scared....very scared, but also determined. Their lives had been threatened and in their eyes they had to take action. The sun was finally fading behind the trees and the sky grew dark, every second counted now as they gathered their stuff and went out the back door.
