Chapter 4: Not everything is what it seems

*Eren POV*

The rest of the day was a real blur. Levi and I seemed to be hitting off...I think. I wasn't even sure if we were together. I mean, yes we kissed, but once his clique comes around he would send me dirty glances.

Levi came out of his classroom and quickly walked over to me.

"Um, hi Levi.." I started.

"Hey brat." He said, just simply staring.

I couldn't take it anymore and asked, "Levi, are you embarrassed to be with me?"

"What do you mean by 'with you'?" He tilted his head slightly, his raven hair smoothly shifting.

"Well since you kissed me and we walked together to class and stuff I thought that maybe we were together or something..."

Levi just kept staring. It went on like this for about 10 minutes. I shifted my feet, awaiting an answer. Once his voice suddenly started up, a shock went through my spine.

"You know Jaeger , you're a real idiot."

"W-what?" I was so confused as to what was going on. But for some reason, this really didn't surprise me. Of course Levi didn't like me. He probably did this to show off to his friends, and make me a laughing stock.

"Brat, I'm not embarrassed. I'm trying to protect you. The reason I keep sending glares at you whenever my friends are around is so that way they THINK I hate you, but in reality, I eh..uh...sorta...maybe...like you."

I stopped. My breathe hitched in my throat, and I thought I was going to pass out. Hell, I probably already did and this is a dream. Now I was the one staring, and Levi just stared back, showing no emotion at all. I wish he would just smile once. I remember back in preschool, he had the brightest little smile. I don't think I'll ever see it again...

"Jaeger, you ok? You're pale. Let me walk you home."

I stumbled a bit on the side walk, but Levi helped me maneuver all the way to my house. We walked in, and immediately Levi stared at the floor. Just...staring.

"Uh, Levi? Are you ok?"

Levi snapped up and looked over at me. "Huh? Ya! Just noticed some dirt on the floor..."

"Oh, ok." I nodded my head. I understood that he was a neat freak, and to be honest, I thought it was the most adorable thing ever.

"Oi, Yeager. Where's your sister at?"

"Tonight she has karate. She's like a 5th degree black belt or some shit."

"Impressive."

"Levi, let me show you to my room." I walk up the stairs and point to my room. "This is it!"

We walk inside, and Levi seems to become breathless for some reason. I sit on the bed and stare at him. His eyes seemed to glaze over, as if he was remembering something from long ago. He walked around, looking at everything.

"Eren... Your room is...friggin spotless."

"Wait..what did you just call me?" I almost laughed right on the spot.

"Oi...eh...Jaeger....I think?"

"Levi... You called me Eren!"

"Yeah..I mean I can right? The guys aren't around so I thought it'd be ok." He almost seemed shy. I had never seen this side of Levi and it kind of confused me. But it was cute.

"Of course! I was kind of waiting for you to call me by my name."

"Oh. sorry." I swear his cheeks turned red. I SWEAR ON HOLY MARIA (like wall maria lol) THAT LEVI JUST FRIGGIN BLUSHED.

"Levi besides that, thank you. "

"For what?" His head tilted and he became even more serious. I thought that was impossible, woah.

"Thank you for being here with me."

"No problem kid." He rustled my hair and smirked. It wasn't a smile, but at least it was a smirk. We were getting somewhere. This was a start. A good start.

"Levi..." I hugged him. I just couldn't hold back anymore.

Levi sighed and hugged me back.

That I didn't expect.

Levi Rivaille hugged me back.

"Eren, I'll always be here for you."

***A TEXT ON LEVI'S PHONE***

Jean: So how r u doin with that Eren kid. Hope ur playing him well. Tell me the details later.
