"We want you two to become a duet act" Our studio head tells us. I personally have never been a part of a musical group, so being told that I will be sharing the spotlight with someone makes me nervous. NOT that I would mine, I am not an egotistical brat. I just wouldn't want to let the other person down. And learning that my partner will be Lance McClain is a little more than intimidating.

I nervously glance at the boy beside me, watching him recompose himself. I feel the heat rise to my cheeks as he looks at me. I quickly turn my head.

"It'll be great. You two are budding musicians under our label, but we believe you will be even better as a dual performance. We have already written a few songs for you, but we will need to create a stage name for you. I  suggest that you simply go by the name 'Katie and Lance'" He informs us. I fidget with the sleeves of my dark green sweater.

"Do we get a say in this?" Lance finally speaks. The man in front of us just shakes his head.

"No" Then he pulls out a sheet of paper.

"You will be recording your first song this afternoon. I trust that you both will take this time to rehearse the song. If you ask Coran, he will show you the demo music and lyrics, he will teach you the song. Now, go" He says, waving his hand dismissively as he leaves. Lance and I just kinda stand there, staring into the space. Lance is the first to make a move.

"Just as my solo career was kicking off" He grumbles, walking away from me. I let go of my breath. I then decided to just make my way to the practice studio. I walk around the corner, pausing when I hear a voice.

"So they put me in a duet with that Pidge girl" Lance.

"I'm sure it won't be that bad. She has a beautiful voice" I don't recognize the voice, but smile shyly at their flattery.

"Yeah, whatever. Gotta rehearse for our first recording session. See you"

"Bye Lance"

I then make my appearance. I rush around the corner, ignoring Lance. But I don't recognize the girl he was talking to. I make my way through the door, only to be greeted by Coran singing to himself.

"Hey Coran" I smile to him.

"Ahh, Pidge, how are you?" He asks, looking up from his papers. He hurriedly gives me one of those papers. It's sheet music and lyrics.

"Lance, hurry" He gestures behind me. I don't dare to look back, but I feel his presence next to me. I scan my eyes over the music and smile slightly. It seems fun enough.

"Okay, so can we start going over the song"
