The Serpent and the Nerd

Chapter 1

Betty cooper was classed as a nerd, in Riverdale High she only had one friend, Kevin Keller. Betty had been picked on ever since middle school because she smart and didn't care for being the "it" girl.

Jughead Jones was serpent heir, his dad FP Jones being the leader of the Southside Serpents. Jughead was respected and people didn't dare upset him.

On one cold Monday, Southside High was merging with Riverdale High. When the serpents entered the school, all eyes were on them. They were spilt into small groups and shown around by some students from riverdale High. Jughead, Sweetpea, fangs and Toni were put in a group with Betty. "Okay so this is the cafeteria..." Betty said, gesturing around the room. "It's your typical cliche seating. Jocks, cheerleaders, populars, math club, and then everyone else" she said pointing out different seats. "And where do you sit princess?" Jug smirked, guessing she was a cheerleader. Betty looked at him, With something he couldn't work out in her eyes. "I don't sit in here" she said before continuing the tour.

By the end of the tour jughead was wanting to know more about this mysterious blonde. When they finished Betty took them to go and get their locker numbers and timetables. "Oh look it's crazy cooper" a voice from behind them interrupted them. The serpents watched Betty physically stiffen. "Reggie. What do you want" Betty sighed. Reggie smirked and turned the Jughead and his friends. "Heads up snakes, you don't want to be seen with her. She's cuckoo" he laughed before walking away. Jug turned to Betty who has tears threatening to fall down her face. "Well that's the tour done. Bye" she stuttered before running down the corridor.

The next week flew by and jughead was looking for Betty everywhere, he only had one class with her, science, and she sat at the front by herself, nobody sitting with her and then he never saw her around school; she meant what she said about not eating lunch in the cafeteria. "Dude! This school is so bitchy!" Fangs said as he put his lunch tray on the table. "Why?" Sweetpea asked. "You know that blonde who gave us the tour? The stuff they say about her is unreal" he said and jughead sat up, interested to know more about Betty. "I know, apparently she's a loner, a nerd but that's not the worst her sister apparently killed herself after her boyfriend dumped her and Betty found her, I don't understand why they're so mean she seemed like a nice girl when she gave us the tour" Toni chipped in. "Wow, that's fucked up" Sweetpea said. Jughead was angry, this girl was being bullied because she's smart and they're making fun of her dead sister. "I want to find her, talk to her" Jug said, causing everyone to look at him. "Why?" Toni asked. "She needs a friend and nobody messes with us" he stated. The others were Smirking at him. "What?" He said. "You've got a crushhhh" fangs said in a sing song voice. Jughead just glared at him. Did he have a crush on her?
