i saw you twice that day. i had never noticed, but we had quite a few classes together.
as i walked into my chemistry class i bumped into you. literally. you fell to the floor, your books scattering everywhere. i apologized numerous times but you didn't say anything. i had bent down to try to help you gather your things when i noticed it.
your sleeve had slid down, exposing your forearm. purple, green, yellow. a rainbow of bruises in the shape of fingerprints were spread all over.
you noticed my gaze and quickly covered them up. i opened my mouth to speak, but you were already gone. i watched you disappear down the hallway, keeping your head down.
i'm sorry i discovered the secret you never wanted anyone to know.
