"Max, she won't answer me. What is going on Max? Why won't she answer?" Lily cried, staining Max's shoulder with her tears.
"She's fine, Lily. She's probably just busy. Please calm down, its okay," he comforted, holding onto her as she continued to cry.
After ten or so minutes, Lily had calmed down, and Max was rubbing circles on her back. They stay sat on the floor for some time, holding one another.
After a while, Lily stood up and rubbed her eyes. "I'm sorry, you shouldn't have came," her words were true, but hurt Max nonetheless.
"And let you deal with this shit yourself? Lily, you could be in serious danger. I'm here with you, every step of the way."
They walked up to Lily's bedroom after a few moments. Once again, panic setting in for Lily, and now for Max, too. The slight creek of the door doesn't help the anxiety for either one of them, and finally, the door opens.
On the wall opposite from them both, painted in dark red, were the words You were too late. She is already dead.
Lily broke down in sobs, knowing well who ‘she' was. She fell onto her knees and screamed, chunks of hair between her fists as she cried and screamed. Max knelt down near her, stroking her back with a shaking hand.
“N-no! Not Mandy! S-she can't be dead, Max! She can't be!” She wailed, falling onto the floor completely. Max took this moment to walk over to the writing. It was all blood.
Max noticed an odd smell in the room, which turned his gaze to the closet. He cautiously inched closer, his hand now on the door, slightly stained red. He opened it to reveal a body: long, dark brown hair, pale-white skin, and a face so cut up it was unrecognizable. Max let out a gasp. His whole body was shaking now. That was Mandy. He stepped back, a hand coming to his mouth.
“L-Lily, Lily o-oh my god Lily…” Max stuttered, hardly able to speak. Lily, as curious as she was, stood up from the floor, tear stained still visible on her rosy cheeks.
“Max? Max what’s wrong?” She asked, noticing the tears rimming Max’s eyes. Without a word, he gestured to the closet. She took a few glances between Max and the closet door, then slowly approached.
Lily could hear nothing but her own blood-curdling scream. Tears shot out of her eyes as she stared at the body of her best friend. She fell to her knees once again, her hands cupping her face. There’s a ringing in her ears now, and she can just faintly hear the sound of Max speaking, but she cannot make out what he is saying.
