"Park Jinyoung's restaurant was seriously trashed by the remaining members of Top Dragon and the owner himself was kidnapped by then. It was a late evening when the whole incident happened and the employee was only left, suffering cracked ribs and slightly damaged throat but otherwise in stable condition. She managed to fight back and knock out two of Top Dragon's members who are now in the hospital but under the watchful eyes of the police team...," the news reporter's voice floated throughout the first floor of the house, the members busy with whatever they were doing.
"Two Top Dragon related news in a course of one week. So much for being the most secretive gang," Jihoon scoffed. As usual.
"I thought we're the most secretive," Seokmin snickered. Jihoon rolled his eyes and ignored the younger, deciding to mess on his computer. Jeonghan was the one in front of the TV again even though the others told him to at least do something, offering some entertainment other than the moving pixels on the TV screen.
"A round of poker?" Joshua suggested.
"Wanna go to the casino and cheat our way through again?" Wonwoo asked.
"Can you head to that Reon bastard and get our damn money he owed back?"
The last one wasn't exactly a suggestion but more on an order from the leader. Jeonghan did that easily and returned to continue watching the television after slapping a wad of cash on the coffee table, mysteriously splattered with some red substances. Chan suspected that Jeonghan took the easiest way out by using violence and manipulation again, not bothering to play nice.
"We need to rescue him," Jeonghan said quietly. 12 heads snapped to his direction as he stared at the TV in a trance.
Jun was the first to speak with a surprised look. "Excuse us, what did you say?" he spluttered out, hoping he heard Jeonghan wrong.
"We need to rescue the Jinyoung guy," Jeonghan repeated as if it was completely normal. He got complete silence instead. He could see the questions running in their heads. "Please?" he begged with his puppy eyes. "We got nothing to do and Top Dragon had been annoying us for the past few years. Chances like this when they're exposed and being in a completely mess, taking their hostage away will make them a huge laughingstock," he smiled.
His sly smile gave enough convincing. If the new mission was enough to pull the old Jeonghan back just for a few days or weeks, then so be it. It would serve a good distraction for him as well. Jihoon scrambled to his office and start working on their new mission with new-found vigour.
Seventeen first rescue attempt was on the go.
---
Jihoon gave a deep sigh as he rolled his chair back from his desk. Wonwoo looked up from where he sat reading on the couch in the smaller's office. "You're facing a problem?" Wonwoo asked as he stood up and towered over Jihoon.
"Nah, just a bit sleepy," he yawned. His eyes drooped lowly in exhaustion as he rubbed them. Wonwoo offered to do his job while the smaller get some sleep. It took a while convincing but after reluctantly telling Wonwoo the progress he had made, Jihoon headed to his room to get some sleep.
Wonwoo sighed as he sat into Jihoon's comfortable chair and set to work. It was going well until he noticed a slight glitch on the screen. Wonwoo didn't know what happened except a few seconds later, the screens of all the monitors went blank.
"What the fuck just happened?" Wonwoo stood up in shock. Great, Jihoon was going to murder him. "Come on, come on," Wonwoo clicked aggressively on the mouse and pressed all sorts of keys on the keyboard, trying to revive the screens.
Suddenly, there was a white text cursor at the top left corner on one of the screen, blinking lazily at the spectacled boy. Curious, the boy sat down and clicked on the line. Nothing happened. He pressed the 'a' on the keyboard and the letter appeared before it was deleted.
Hello, am I speaking to Lee Jihoon?
Wonwoo's eyes furrowed at the line. Should he wake the smaller up? He didn't want to wake him but curiosity won him over. And it was strange. No one except the members knew Jihoon's real name. Who was this person exactly? Not being the person to lie unless on mission, Wonwoo typed in a 'no'
Then, am I speaking to Jeon Wonwoo?
Wonwoo knew that his mission name went by the name Wonu, instead of Wonwoo. To have that person know, much more his full name, sent a chill down his spine.
Who are you?
Wonwoo watched in anticipation as the cursor blinked, the previous text exchange from before were white to contrast the black screen.
Ten seconds.
Twenty seconds.
You can call me Phoenix
The reply came. Wonwoo bit his lips. Should he call Seungcheol? The leader was better in negotiating and dealing with outsiders but the person knew them in some sort. Wonwoo shook his head nervously and looked at the closed door.
I need Seventeen's help
Wonwoo's eyes widened. Maybe he really needed to get Seungcheol.
Would you like me to get my leader? He typed in.
Yes. That'll work too
The answer was immediate. Wonwoo got up and found Seungcheol easily, going through some papers. "Seungcheol," Wonwoo called up. The leader looked up at the deep concerned voice of Wonwoo.
"What is it?" the older asked, frowning at the tone of Wonwoo's voice. The younger gestured for him to enter the office and Seungcheol did so immediately. Wonwoo pointed to the screen and Seungcheol sat down and read the previous texts
This is S.Coups of Seventeen. How can we help you?
There was no answer for five minutes. But Wonwoo and Seungcheol waited patiently and feeling antsy.
Sorry, I went to get ramen.
Seungcheol gave a surprised look and turned to Wonwoo. Were they perhaps talking to a kid?
It's alright, Seungcheol typed in.
As I was saying, I need Seventeen's help. May I borrow your notes on Top Dragon?
There was another exchange of looks on their faces.
Why?
There was another pause but they waited.
Cause I need to get back something from them. It's super-duper important
Seungcheol bit his lips as he thought for a while. Even as the leader, it came down to the group to make the final decisions together.
What benefit will we get from this?
Idk. I'll see what I can do...
We'll get back to you, he typed before telling Wonwoo to gather everybody.
Okay, please consider, Seungcheol-ssi.
Seungcheol's eyes widened but he shrugged it off. The person must have known them personally before. Was it perhaps Jeonghui?
Seungcheol sighed as he settled onto his chair. He desperately wanted it to be her but he had to be realistic. Even if she was alive, why would she reach out to them again?
It'll be a full crap of nonsense.
