Chapter 1 - About the virus...

Most people would agree that sleep is important, heck, before this, even I used to sleep whenever I could. But now... not so much. I mean, if I tried, I'd probably be able to, but now it's too dangerous to even attempt it ...

I'm getting ahead of myself right now aren't I? *sigh* Sorry, let's try this again.

My name is Nick. And I'm one of the infected.

So, what I've gathered on this whole "infection" thing, is that once you get infected, you only have hours until you lose your sanity. But a plus side to the infection is that you get special powers , cool, right? Well, at least while you remain sane.

However, the government and CDC have a different take on it , and probably more information for that matter. Here's the bullshit explanation they repeatedly broadcast over the radios.

" This is a CDC announcement, please pay attention." The radio goes into a silent crackle as they prepare the speech. " My name is Mark Eveyns. I'm a disease specialist for the CDC, and I am here to inform you about the Lezii-rues." the man gets quiet and the radio crackles before he continues, "Lezii-rues, or as it is more commonly known: The Infection, is a virus that mainly targets the brain." He pauses again.

"From witnesses accounts and experiments we have done, it appears that once the infection enters, or comes in contact with the body, the infected only have hours to remain sane, but the time frame of their sanity, also known as sanity time, decreases if infected shows sign of hysteria -Sanity depletion-." The speaker clears his throat uncomfortably.

"And from witness reports, the infected appear to Gain special abilities." Mark's voice cracks and he clears his throat several more times before continuing.

"We have only observed a hand full of cases pertaining to that, and so far we have reason to believe it only happens to a select few, and we have no links as to why." He pauses before becoming serious, "Please, remain indoors, and if at all possible, do not come into physical contact with others. That is all, be safe out there." The radio once again comes to a silent crackle.

In my opinion, the broadcast didn't tell us anything we hadn't already figured out for ourselves. But the fact that they didn't believe in the 'special abilities' part was what made me chuckle. They didn't believe it because it couldn't be measured by science? statistics? Or did they just not believe because they were afraid?

Well....I guess I was the same before I witnessed it in person.
