Chaeyoung sighed and turned off the studio lights. It had been three years now. She had gotten some time for schooling, met someone and fell in love, and gotten an art studio for her to complete projects. Her latest work was of a cherry blossom tree. She had defined its beauty so perfectly on the canvas. Every brush stroke gentle as the next so to define the flowers beauty. The girl quickly walked and then hopped into her girlfriends car.
"SinB." Chaeyoung said and smiled. SinB gave her girlfriend a welcoming smile. "My art show is tomorrow." She informed her partner. Silence. "SinB-." "I heard you." SinB said. Chaeyoung bit her lip and looked out the window. "I got an offer for a job in Busan." SinB suddenly let out. Her face was expressionless. Chaeyoung turned to look at the girl.
"W-what? We can't move to Busan. We don't have the money." Chaeyoung said. SinB sighed and pulled the car over. "I do. Chaeyoung...I can't lose an opportunity like this. Do you understand? I say now that we break up. Long distance relationships never work out." SinB said bluntly. Chaeyoung whimpered and grasped SinB wrist. But the taller girl brushed her hand away.
"We're too different anyways. And I...I met someone." SinB said and cleared her throat. "You met someone? You've been cheating on me?" Chaeyoung asked. "Who do you take me as? I have morals. Of course I didn't cheat. I waited till we broke up." SinB said simply. Chaeyoung sat back in her seat and closed her eyes. She already lost one love, but why again?
"I'm sorry." SinB said, a little sympathy in her voice. "No I get it. Take that opportunity okay? And...whoever you're with now, be happy." She said sincerely. SinB's phone lit up revealing a name. Im Nayeon. Chaeyoung furrowed her eyebrows. Why did SinB have one of her best friend's number? She brushed it off and opened the car door.
"I hope we can stay friends Chaeyoung. At least give me that." SinB said. Chaeyoung sighed and nodded. She shut the door and carried her heavy bag up the steps and into her apartment.
*ringing*
Chaeyoung looked at the unknown number on her phone and groaned. This was the fifth time this person tried to call her this month. She threw her phone on the counter and headed to bed. She was too tired to answer, too tired to get dressed into her nightwear. And too tired to cry over the breakup.
She passed a framed picture in the hallway. Usually she'd stop, but she's found herself blind to the picture on the wall. If only she'd given it a look she'd realize it's importance. She opened her bedroom door and fell immediately onto her bed.
"Wake up." A soft voice told Chaeyoung. The young girl fluttered her eyes open. She lifted her head and gasped lightly. Mina smiled sweetly at her and tucked a strand of hair behind Chaeyoung's ear. "I didn't want to wake you up earlier. You looked so peaceful." Mina said and rubbed Chaeyoung's cheek with her thumb. Chaeyoung's eyes glossed with tears.
"Don't cry." Mina whispered gently. "You left." Chaeyoung choked out and hugged Mina's waist. The Japanese woman frowned and ran her fingers gently through Chaeyoung's hair.
"There's a point in a relationship where you have to do what's best so you don't endanger the one you love. I didn't want to trouble you further. Please understand. My Chaeyoung." Mina whispered the you g girl's name softly. "Mina." Chaeyoung breathed out.
Chaeyoung opened her eyes. Darkness surrounded her. She glided her hand over the empty space of sheets. "Mina." She whispered. Silence. What was she to expect? It had been three years since that dreadful day when Mina left. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.
'Three years and she hadn't made any attempt to contact me.' Chaeyoung thought. She got out of bed and opened her bedroom door. The picture on the wall caught her attention. She slowly walked to it. Her breath hitched when she saw it. It was a picture of her and Mina in front of the Tokyo Skytree. Chaeyoung traced Mina's face with her finger.
